Two-dimensional (2D) photocatalytic material is a vital project for modern solar energy conversion and storage. Despite a vast family of potential 2D photocatalysts that is demonstrated, their commercial applications are severely limited because of fast photogenerated electron-hole recombination. Here, based on first-principles, we propose a general paradigm to boost the separation of photoexcited charge carriers in 2D photocatalysts by stacking engineering. Taking the emerging water splitting photocatalyst MoSiN as an example, we show that specific interlayer stacking-induced electric polarization plays a significant role in altering the electronic properties and thus the suppressed recombination rate of photoexcited carriers. Moreover, we find that the catalytic performance can be further controlled by vertical strain. These generalized findings not only highlight the importance of stacking-induced electric polarization but also offer new prospects for the design and application of 2D photocatalysts.

In this work, we successfully prepared four POM-based organic-inorganic hybrids, namely, [(CHN)(CHN)][PMoO] (1), [(CHN)(CHN)][PMoO] (2), [(CHN)][PMoO]·4HO (3), and [(CHN)][PMoO] (4) (where CHN = pyridine, CHN = pyrazine, CHN = 2,7-diamino-1,3,4,6,8,9-hexaazaspiro[4.4] nonane, and CHN = 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole), using a hydrothermal method. Compounds 1 and 2 exhibited a lamellar three-dimensional structure.

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have emerged as low-cost photovoltaic representatives. Constructing three-dimensional (3D)/two-dimensional (2D) perovskite heterostructures has been shown to effectively enhance the efficiency and stability of PSCs. However, further enhancement of device performance is still largely limited by inferior conductivity of the 2D perovskite capping layer and its mismatched energy level with the 3D perovskite layer.

The optimization of morphology in all-polymer solar cells (all-PSCs) often relies on the use of solvent additives. However, their tendency to remain trapped in the device due to high boiling points leads to performance degradation over time. In this study, we introduce a novel approach involving the design and synthesis of one dual-asymmetric solid additive featuring mono-brominated-asymmetric dithienothiophene (SL-1).

Trace contaminants are toxic and their widespread presence in the environment potentially threatens human health. The levels of these pollutants are often difficult to determine directly using instruments owing to the complexities of environment matrices. Hence, pretreatment steps, such as sample purification and concentration, are key along with various processes that enhance the accuracy and sensitivity of the detection method.

c-Myc is a transcription factor that is overexpressed in most human cancers. Despite its challenging nature, we have developed a series of naphthalimide-imidazopyrazine conjugates to target c-Myc. The library of synthesized derivatives was tested for their anticancer activity against a nine-panel of cancer cell lines.
