Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the common types and directions of root fractures of the maxillary first molar and the influence of root canal treatment on the prevalent sites of root fractures.
Methods: A total of 274 maxillary first molars with root fractures diagnosed via cone beam computed tomography were included. The root fractures of nonendodontically and endodontically treated teeth were identified to be spontaneous and secondary root fractures, respectively. The sites, types, and directions of spontaneous and secondary root fractures were determined.
Results: Among the spontaneous root fractures, the proportion of palatal root fractures (56.1%) was higher than those of mesial buccal root fractures (36.1%) and distal buccal root fractures (7.8%). Among the secondary root fractures, the proportion of mesial buccal root fractures (52.7%) was higher than those of palatal root fractures (36.5%) and distal buccal root fractures (10.8%). The distribution of predominant fracture sites was statistically significant (<0.05), and vertical root fracture was the most common type. Palatal and buccal roots were commonly fractured at the mesiodistal and buccal-palatal directions, respectively.
Conclusions: This study provided an epidemiological basis for the clinical features of root fractures of the maxillary first molar. During the dia-gnosis and treatment of the maxillary first molar, the possibility of palatal root fractures should be considered. The occurrence of mesial buccal root fractures may be related to root canal treatment. Therefore, the risk of mesial buccal root fractures caused by iatrogenic factors should be minimized.

The presence of biodegradable microplastics (BMPs) alongside toxic metals in soil significantly threatens plant health. Current research mainly focuses on the effects of original BMPs. In contrast, the specific impacts of ultraviolet (UV)-aged BMPs and their interaction with Cadmium (Cd) on seed germination and growth are unclear.

Purpose: To investigate how varying ferrule heights and the number of glass fiber posts affect fracture resistance and behavior of endodontically treated maxillary first premolars with substantial loss of tooth structure.
Materials And Methods: Twenty-four extracted endodontically treated human maxillary first premolars were divided into three groups (n = 8) based on ferrule height and post number. The groups were as follows: premolars of 2 mm ferrule height that were restored with single posts (control group), premolars of 0.

Aim: To evaluate the effect of applying a matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) inhibitor on the fracture resistance of root-filled teeth restored with Everstick fiber-reinforced composite resin.
Subjects And Methods: After the selection of 60 freshly extracted human mandibular first molar, root canal access and standard uniformly sized mesio-occluso-distal (MOD) cavities were made and the teeth were randomly assigned into three groups ( = 20 each): Group I, the MOD cavity was first lined with flowable composite resin and then restored with composite resin. In Group II, Everstick fiber was placed into the bed of flowable composite in buccal-pulpal-lingual direction before the composite restoration was placed.

Aim: This study aims to compare and evaluate the fracture resistance of endodontically treated maxillary anterior teeth restored using new postplacement techniques.
Methodology: Forty-five single-rooted maxillary anterior teeth ( = 15) were selected and decoronated at the cementoenamel junction. The working length was determined using a 15K file.

Apexification is a crucial procedure for achieving apical healing in non-vital teeth with open apices. Traditionally, calcium hydroxide has been used for this purpose, but it has significant drawbacks, including prolonged treatment duration, increased risk of root fracture, and the potential for porous barrier formation. Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) has emerged as a superior alternative due to its biocompatibility, faster setting time, and better sealing properties.
