. Alterations induced by direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) or vitamin K antagonists (VKAs) to thromboelastometry and thrombin generation are not well defined. We performed a simultaneous investigation of thromboelastometry and thrombin generation for patients who were chronically anticoagulated with DOACs or VKAs.

Background: Patients with severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) present with persisting hypercoagulability, hypofibrinolysis and prolonged clot initiation as measured with viscoelastic assays. The objective of this study was to investigate the trajectories of traditional assays of hemostasis, routine and tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) rotational thromboelastometry (ROTEM) in COVID-19 patients and to study their association with mortality.
Methods: Patients enrolled within the Maastricht Intensive Care COVID (MaastrICCht) cohort were included.

Background: Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is characterized by a complex spectrum of coagulopathy ranging from hemorrhagic to thrombotic symptoms. To date, platelet count (PLT) and conventional coagulation tests (CCTs) cannot predict hemorrhagic events and thrombotic risk. Thromboelastography (TEG) measures the viscoelastic properties of the clot, thus providing information on the entire process of blood coagulation.

Introduction: Abnormal coagulation and inflammation are hallmarks of SARs-COV-19. Stratifying affected patients on admission to hospital may help identify those who at are risk of developing severe disease early on. Rotational Thromboelastometry (ROTEM) is a point of care test that can be used to measure abnormal coagulation and calprotectin is a measure of inflammation.
