Recent advances in the development of innovative treatments for MM (metastatic melanoma) significantly improved survival. BRAF inhibitor-targeted therapies are also indicated in stage IV BRAF-mutant melanoma, especially dabrafenib and trametinib in combination. The authors present here an impressive rapid (1 month) complete metabolic response on FDG PET/CT to BRAF inhibitors of an MM with a massive tumor burden estimated at more than 10 kg.

Multiple respiratory viruses can concurrently or sequentially infect the respiratory tract, making their identification crucial for diagnosis, treatment, and disease management. We present a label-free diagnostic platform integrating surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) with deep learning for rapid, quantitative detection of respiratory virus coinfections. Using sensitive silica-coated silver nanorod array substrates, over 1.

Liver malignancies, particularly hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), pose a formidable global health challenge. Conventional diagnostic techniques frequently fall short in precision, especially at advanced HCC stages. In response, we have developed a novel diagnostic strategy that integrates hyperspectral imaging with deep learning.

A Redox-Active Copper Complex for Orthogonal Detection of Homocysteine Involving Fluorescence and Electrochemical Techniques.

Small

January 2025

Analytical & Environmental Science Division and Centralized Instrument Facility, CSIR-CSMCRI, G. B. Marg, Bhavnagar, 364002, India.

The present work reports the synthesis, characterization, and excited state photo-physical studies of two copper(II) compounds, 1 & 2, which show interference-free emission with homocysteine (Hcy). Cu(II) complexes offer an orthogonal detection strategy involving fluorescence and electrochemical methods, paving the way for improved point-of-care diagnostics and early cardiovascular diseases intervention. The reduction-induced emission enhancement (RIEE) of Cu complexes facilitates the fluorescence measurement of Hcy at physiological pH.

Chromium-Doped NiBP Micro-Sphere Electrocatalysts for Green Hydrogen Production under Industrial Operational Conditions.

Small Methods

January 2025

Department of Electronic Engineering, College of Electronics and Information, Kwangwoon University, Nowon-gu, Seoul, 01897, South Korea.

Wide spread adaptation of green hydrogen can help to mitigate the serious climate issues, increasing global energy demands and the development of advanced electrocatalysts robust under industrial conditions is one of the key technological challenges. Herein, chromium-doped nickel-boride-phosphide (Cr/NiBP) micro sphere (MS) electrocatalyst is demonstrated via a two-step hydrothermal approach along with post-annealing. The Cr/NiBP MS demonstrates low hydrogen evolution reaction and oxygen evaluation reaction over potentials of 78 and 250 mV at 100 mA cm in 1 m KOH, out performing most of the reported catalysts.

Rational exploration of cost-effective, durable, and high-performance electrode materials is imperative for advancing the progress of capacitive deionization (CDI). The integration of multicomponent layered double hydroxides (LDHs) with conjugated conductive metal-organic frameworks (c-MOFs) to fabricate bifunctional heterostructure electrode materials is considered a complex but promising strategy. Herein, the fabrication of elaborately designed three-dimensional hierarchical conductive MOF/LDH/CF nanoarchitectures (M-CAT/LDH/CF) as CDI anodes via a controllable grafted-growth strategy is reported.
