Objective: To reflect on the perception of nurses working in Primary Health Care about the development of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign.
Method: This is a participatory action qualitative study, based on the methodological theoretical precepts by Paulo Freire, which consists of three interconnected phases: Thematic Research, Coding and Decoding, and Critical Unveiling. Three virtual Culture Circles were held between February and March 2021, with 11 nurses from Primary Health Care, residing in Santa Catarina, Brazil.
Results: Nurses defined two themes for discussion in the Culture Circle: 1. Matches in the COVID-19 vaccination campaign, representing the potentialities; 2. Mismatches in the COVID-19 vaccination campaign, in which the weaknesses were revealed.
Conclusion: Nurses indicated potentialities such as teamwork, with hope, motivation, and joy in the vaccination campaign operationalization, through innovative and old actions. They also highlighted weaknesses such as lack of specific training and communication, difficulties with recording and application of the immunobiological, mentioning the anti-vaccine movement and the intense work, which requires adjustments to improve assistance to the population.

Virus neutralization profiles against primary infection sera and corresponding antigenic cartography are integral part of the COVID-19 and influenza vaccine strain selection processes. Human single variant exposure sera have previously defined the antigenic relationships among SARS-CoV-2 variants but are now largely unavailable due to widespread population immunity. Therefore, antigenic characterization of future SARS-CoV-2 variants will require an animal model, analogous to using ferrets for influenza virus.

Despite the success in COVID-19 mRNA vaccines, direct local delivery of mRNA into the lung by inhalation would greatly reinforce the treatment of pulmonary pathogens and diseases. Herein, we developed lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) from degradable ionizable glycerolipids for potent pulmonary mRNA delivery via nebulization.

Background: In this work, we implement a data-driven approach using an aggregation of several analytical methods to study the characteristics of COVID-19 daily infection and death time series and identify correlations and characteristic trends that can be corroborated to the time evolution of this disease. The datasets cover twelve distinct countries across six continents, from January 22, 2020 till March 1, 2022. This time span is partitioned into three windows: (1) pre-vaccine, (2) post-vaccine and pre-omicron (BA.

Background: In-person interaction offers invaluable benefits to people. To guarantee safe in-person activities during a COVID-19 outbreak, effective identification of infectious individuals is essential. In this study, we aim to analyze the impact of screening with antigen tests in schools and workplaces on identifying COVID-19 infections.

The coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has disproportionately impacted long-term care facilities (LTCFs), revealing vulnerabilities due to residents' advanced age, comorbidities, and facility infrastructures. In Taiwan, the Central Epidemic Control Center implemented a range of strategies to protect LTCF residents. These included early containment measures to allow time for preparing pharmaceutical intervention, the establishment of infection prevention and control guidelines, the implementation of comprehensive screening and testing protocols, the prioritization of vaccination for both residents and staff, and the expansion of the national stockpile of oral antiviral agents.
