The lithium (Li)-metal anode is deemed as the "holy gray" of the next-generation Li-metal system because of its high theoretical specific capacity, minimal energy density, and lowest standard electrode potential. Nevertheless, its commercial application has been limited by the large volume variation during charge and discharge, the unstable interface between the Li metal and electrolyte, and uneven deposition of Li. Herein, we present a 3D host (Cu) with lithiophilic matrix (CuO and SnO) in situ modification via a facile ammonia oxidation method to serve as a current collector for the Li-metal anode. The 3D Cu host embellished by CuO and SnO is abbreviated as 3D CSCC. By increasing interfacial activity, lowering the nucleation barrier, and accommodating changes in volume of the Li metal, the 3D CSCC electrode effectively demonstrates a homogeneous and dendrite-free deposition morphology with an excellent cycling performance up to 3000 h at a 1.0 mA cm current density. Additionally, the full cells paired with Li@3D CSCC anodes and LiCoO cathodes show good capacity retention performance at 0.2 C.

Methodological study on coal-based microbial modification of mineral black clay to overcome plant growth challenges on open-pit mine dumps in cold regions.

A critical challenge in ecological restoration of open-pit mine dumps in cold regions with limited topsoil resources is how to rapidly mitigate the plant growth-inhibitory effects of mineral black clay, thereby converting it into arable soil. Leveraging the high degradation capacity of coal seam-associated microorganisms on fossil carbon materials, combined with soil conditioning techniques, this study developed a microbial-based approach for modifying black clay. Seed germination experiments informed both laboratory and field trial designs.

Covalent triazine frameworks (CTFs) are emerging as promising platform for photocatalysis, yet their highly symmetric structure leads to significant charge recombination. Herein, we employed a facile non-metallic boron (B) modification with precisely controlled doping site to introduce asymmetric local electron distribution in CTFs, achieving a 15-fold activity enhancement for CO-to-CH conversion. Calculations including frontier orbitals, dipole moments and molecular electrostatic potentials firmly demonstrated the formation of localized polarized electron regions in CTF-1 via B doping.

To realize the comprehensive utilization of large amounts of high-ash coal slime and comprehensively understand the excellent performance of nutrient release and lead and cadmium adsorption of high-ash coal slime silicon composite materials, green and safe mild hydrothermal conditions (200 °C) were used to prepare the rich-rich coal slime. Zeolite/tobermorite composites (Z-TOBs) were used in this study. Batch adsorption tests and repeated extraction tests were used to determine whether silicon, potassium, and calcium nutrients of Z-TOBs have sustained release properties and are affected by pH.

Surface Fluorination of Silicone Rubber with Enhanced Stain Resistance and Slip Properties.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

Silicone rubber (SR) holds significant potential for everyday wearable devices due to its inherent sweat resistance and flexibility. However, its broader applicability is constrained by poor oil resistance and a suboptimal slip performance. In this study, we developed an SR with durable oil resistance and enhanced slip properties by forming a covalently bonded barrier layer on its surface through a one-step in situ fluorination reaction using F/N.

An original design of a simple bioreactor was used to fabricate two tubular, 200 cm long BC structures by culturing B-11267 on a molasses medium. In addition, a tubular BC-based biocomposite with improved mechanical properties was obtained by combining cultivation on the molasses medium with in situ chemical modification by polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). Moreover, the present study investigated the BC production by the B-11267 strain on the media with different molasses concentrations under agitated culture conditions.
