Hypoxia-triggered ERRα acetylation enhanced its oncogenic role and promoted progression of renal cell carcinoma by coordinating autophagosome-lysosome fusion.

Estrogen-related receptor α (ERRα) is dysregulated in many types of cancer and exhibits oncogenic activity by promoting tumorigenesis and metastasis of cancer cells. However, its defined role in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) has not been fully elucidated. To reveal the biological function of ERRα and determine the underlying regulatory mechanism in RCC, the quantitative proteomics analysis and mechanism investigation were conducted.

Iron accumulation and mitochondrial dysfunction in astroglia are reported in Parkinson's disease (PD). Astroglia control iron availability in neurons in which dopamine (DA) synthesis is affected in PD. Despite their intimate relationship the role of DA in astroglial iron homeostasis is limited.

Peroxisome Proliferator Activator α Agonist Clofibrate Induces Pexophagy in Coconut Oil-Based High-Fat Diet-Fed Rats.

Biology (Basel)

Peroxisomes are crucial for fatty acid β-oxidation in steatosis, but the role of pexophagy-the selective autophagy of peroxisomes-remains unclear. This study investigated the effects of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-α (PPARα) agonist clofibrate on pexophagy in a coconut oil-based high-fat diet (HFD)-induced hepatocarcinogenesis model. Rats were divided into four groups: control, clofibrate, HFD, and HFD with clofibrate.

Renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is a common clinical condition that currently lacks effective treatment options. Inhibitors targeting the sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT-2), recognized for their role in managing hyperglycemia, have demonstrated efficacy in enhancing the health outcomes for diabetic patients grappling with chronic kidney disease. Nevertheless, the precise impact of SGLT-2 inhibitors on renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) and the corresponding transcriptomic alterations remain to be elucidated.

The disease burden of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) has decreased in recent years with advances in treatment, but its pathogeny still remains elusive. We aim to study the role of HOXA3/USP15/SQSTM1 axis on autophagy and M2-type macrophage polarization in RCC. In this study, cell apoptosis and proliferation were assessed by flow cytometry and CCK-8.
