Taxonomy of high pressure vibration spectra of zincblende semiconductor alloys based on the percolation model.

Due to their simple structure (two bond species randomly arranged on a cubic lattice), the zincblende ABC semiconductor alloys (zb-SCA) set a benchmark to explore how physical properties are impacted by disorder. A longstanding controversy was whether the lattice dynamics (phonons), governed by the bond force constant, i.e.

Background: Research on the parasitic plant genus Cuscuta has flourished since the genomes of several of its species were published. Most of the research revolves around the iconic infection organ that secures the parasite's sustenance: the haustorium. The interest in understanding the structure-function-regulation relationship of the haustorium is based as much on the wish to find ways to keep the parasite under control as on the opportunities it offers to shed light on various open questions in plant biology.

Fractional hyper-ballistic transport under external oscillating electric fields.

Chaos

Department of Physics, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, Technical University of Košice, Park Komenského 2, Košice 042 00, Slovakia.

The generalized Langevin equation (GLE) for a tagged particle in a liquid of charged particles under the influence of external AC electric fields is studied. For the fractional memory kernel in the GLE, the mean square displacement (MSD) of the particle is studied analytically in both the underdamped and overdamped regimes. The MSD consists of a part corresponding to the absence of the external field and a part affected by the external field, which is expressed through the mean velocity of the particle.

HLA class I alleles of archaic origin may have been retained in modern humans because they provide immunity against diseases to which archaic humans had evolved resistance. According to this model, archaic introgressed alleles were somehow distinct from those that evolved in African populations. Here we show that HLA-B*73:01, a rare allotype with putative archaic origins, has a relatively rare peptide binding motif with an unusually long-tailed peptide length distribution.
