Background: Although Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is a safe and proven treatment modality for patients suffering from debilitating movement and neuropsychiatric disorders, it is not free from complications. Management of skin erosion and infection following DBS surgery constitutes a challenge in everyday clinical practice.
Objectives: Skin-related complications were evaluated in patients who underwent DBS surgery due to Parkinson's disease (PD), dystonia, essential tremor (ET), and other indications including Tourette syndrome (TS), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and epilepsy.

Tourette syndrome (TS) is a neurodevelopmental movement disorder characterized by multiple motor and vocal tics. In this study, we used a TS rat model induced by 3,3'-iminodipropionitrile (IDPN) and aimed to investigate the expression change of Syntaxin 1A (STX1A). Rats in the control group received intraperitoneal injection of normal saline, and TS rats were injected with IDPN (150 mg/kg/day).
