The authors describe a method to improve teaching the most critical step in strabismus surgery, the scleral pass. The attending surgeon fashions a "scleral tunnel" by performing the scleral pass and retracting the needle so the resident can pass it through the same tunnel. This ultimately helps decrease complications during surgical training. .

Technologies that describe the biomechanics of the eye are of emerging importance in glaucoma and keratoconus. A defect in the wall of the eye would be expected to affect biomechanics, resulting in the dispersion of mechanical energy and more viscous rather than elastic behaviour. Here, a mildly myopic man in his 50s was noted to have a deep conduit beside the right optic disc which appeared to pass posteriorly to the optic nerve sheath or orbit.

Purpose: To describe a new surgical technique that combines four-point, flanged polypropylene scleral fixation with a hydrophobic intraocular lens (IOL).
Methods: Using the Envista MX60 and 6.0 polypropylene, scleral four-point fixation was achieved using a flanged-suture technique five times in a model eye and in a case series of eight patients, retrospectively reviewed.

Flavanones are natural compounds that display anti-inflammatory activity. The aim of this work was to prepare PLGA nanoparticles (NPs) containing natural flavanones I ((2)-5,7-dihydroxy-6-methyl-8-(3-methyl-2-buten-1-il)-2-phenyl-2,3-dihydro-4-1-Benzopyran-4-one) and II (2)-5,7-dihydroxy-2-(4'-methoxyphenyl)-6-methyl-8-(3-methyl-2-buten-1-yl)-2,3-dihydro-4-1-Benzopyran-4-one) (NP I and NP II, respectively) so as to evaluate their potential for topical anti-inflammatory ocular therapy. An in silico study was carried out using the Molinspiration and PASS Online web platforms before evaluating the in vitro release study and the ex vivo porcine cornea and sclera permeation.
