Unlabelled: is well adapted to survive and persist in the infected host, escaping the host's immune response. Since polyamines such as spermine, which are synthesized by infected macrophages, are able to inhibit the growth of , the pathogen needs strategies to cope with these toxic metabolites. The actinomycete , a close relative of makes use of a gamma-glutamylation pathway to functionally neutralize spermine.

Self-transmissible IncC plasmids rapidly spread multidrug resistance in many medically important pathogens worldwide. A large plasmid of this type (pIP1202, ~80 Kb) has been isolated in a clinical isolate of , the agent of plague. Here, we report that pIP1202 was highly stable in infected mice and fleas and did not reduce virulence in these animals.

Risk of waterborne diseases (WBDs) persists in temperate regions. The extent of influence of climate-related factors on the risk of specific WBDs in a changing climate and the projections of future climate scenarios on WBDs in temperate regions are unclear. A systematic review was conducted to identify specific waterborne pathogens and diseases prevalent in temperate region literature and transmission cycle associations with a changing climate.

Fever and diarrhea are the common symptoms of infection (CDI); however, pseudomembranous enteritis, megacolonization, and paralytic ileus have been observed in severe cases. spores are resistant to several types of disinfectants. Thus, they are often the causative pathogens of healthcare-associated infections.

The usage of quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs) as disinfectants has surged dramatically during the COVID-19 pandemic and thereafter. QACs can promote antimicrobial resistance, but the combined effects of QACs and antibiotics in driving resistance evolution were yet revealed. This study aimed to evaluate antibiotic resistance of wastewater microorganisms under coexposure to typical antibiotics and the most widely used QAC, dodecyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride (DDBAC).
