Fractional flow reserve (FFR) has been well validated as a modality for evaluating myocardial ischemia, demonstrating the superiority of FFR-guided percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) over conventional angiography-guided PCI. As a result, the strategy for coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is shifting toward FFR guidance. However, the advantage of FFR-guided CABG over angiography-guided CABG remains unclear.

Objectives: The close relationship of proto-oncogenes to myocardial hypertrophy has long been recognized, and cardiac hypertrophy leads to heart failure (HF). However, whether proviral insertion of Moloney virus 3 kinase (Pim3), a proto-oncogene, contributes to cardiac hypertrophy in diabetes mellitus (DM) remains unknown. This study aims to investigate whether Pim3 is involved in DM-induced cardiac hypertrophy and HF and to elucidate its underlying mechanisms.

Background: There is a lack of evidence regarding the association between plasma phenylacetylglutamine levels and lesion severity and clinical prognosis in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) with multivessel coronary disease (MVCD). This study aims to investigate the potential of phenylacetylglutamine as a biomarker for major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) of patients with STEMI and MVCD.

Methods And Results: Clinical data and blood samples were collected from 631 patients with STEMI and MVCD, who underwent primary percutaneous coronary intervention.

Tobacco smoke is known to contain numerous harmful chemicals, and epidemiological evidence has firmly established smoking as a potent risk factor for hypertension and myocardial infarction (MI). However, the precise mechanisms by which smoking contributes to cardiovascular disease are not fully understood. The aim of this study is to identify common molecular signatures in blood that link smoking to acute MI (AMI).

Aortic stenosis (AS) was historically considered a disease of the left side of the heart, with the main pathophysiological impact being predominantly on the left ventricle (LV). However, progressive pressure overload in AS can initiate a cascade of extra-valvular myocardial remodeling that could also precipitate maladaptive alterations in the structure and function of the right ventricle (RV). The haemodynamic and clinical importance of these changes in patients with AS have been largely underappreciated in the past.
