Contralateral pneumothorax after percutaneous central venous catheter placement has not been previously reported. Three patients who required intubation and mechanical ventilation for acute respiratory failure due to COVID-19 were identified with a new pneumothorax on routine post-placement chest roentgenogram on the side opposite the catheter placement. Retrospective review of charts, radiographs, and laboratory studies. No causative relationship was identified between the percutaneous placement of the central venous catheters and the subsequent pneumothoraces identified on the contralateral side, other than the presence of active COVID-19 viral pneumonia. The timing of the contralateral pneumothoraces were coincidental the placement of the central venous catheters. We believe these pneumothoraces were a consequence of the pulmonary pathology of the COVID-19 virus.

Background: Improvements in the clinical diagnostic use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for the identification of liver disorders have been made possible by gadolinium ethoxybenzyl diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (Gd-EOB-DTPA). Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology is in high demand.
Objectives: The purpose of the study is to segment the liver using an enhanced multi-gradient deep convolution neural network (EMGDCNN) and to identify and categorize a localized liver lesion using a Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced MRI.

Objective: To assess the effectiveness and safety profiles of rivaroxaban compared to low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) in managing lower extremity deep vein thrombosis (DVT) subsequent to thoracoscopic lung cancer surgery.
Methods: Sixty patients diagnosed with lower extremity deep vein thrombosis (DVT) following thoracoscopic lung cancer surgery were randomly assigned to two groups: the experimental group comprising 30 patients treated with rivaroxaban, and the control group consisting of 30 patients treated with low molecular weight heparin (LMWH). The fundamental clinical characteristics of patients in both groups were documented, encompassing parameters, along with pre- and post-surgical lower limb vascular ultrasound findings.

Background: Central retinal vein occlusion and cilioretinal artery occlusion are rare but serious ocular conditions that can lead to significant visual impairment. While few cases of central retinal vein occlusion and cilioretinal artery occlusion have been individually reported, concurrent occlusion of both vessels is extremely rare, particularly in younger patients without traditional vascular risk factors. We present the first reported case of simultaneous central retinal vein occlusion and cilioretinal artery occlusion in a young female patient associated with short-term use of progestin-only oral contraceptives (OCPs).

Background: α-Klotho may involve in the occurrence and development of venous thromboembolism (VTE). However, the underlying relationship between circulating α-Klotho levels and VTE is still unclear.
Methods: This two-sample Mendelian Randomization (MR) study aims to explore the causal associations of circulating α-Klotho levels with different types of venous thromboembolism.
