Interventional Radiology residency training programs experienced significant impacts secondary to the COVID-19 pandemic. Prospective resident recruitment and resident education were particularly affected due to limitations on in-person gatherings in effort to curb exposure. Finding ways to mitigate the pandemic's effect on recruitment and education was a challenge faced by residency programs across the nation. This article discusses a single Interventional Radiology program's approach to adapting to the reality of limited interpersonal interaction as well as efforts to maintain engagement for resident recruitment and education in a virtual setting.

Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) exert multiple tumor-promoting functions and are key contributors to drug resistance. The mechanisms by which specific subsets of CAFs facilitate oxaliplatin resistance in colorectal cancer (CRC) have not been fully explored. This study found that THBS2 is positively associated with CAF activation, epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and chemoresistance at the pan-cancer level.

Objective: To identify risk factors for loss to follow-up after inferior vena cava (IVC) filter placement in inpatients of other departments (IODs) and to determine whether a quality improvement project launched at our institution in April 2022 improved follow-up and filter retrieval rates in these patients.
Methods: Consecutive patients who underwent retrievable filter placement at our institution between March 2021 and March 2023 were included in this study. Patients were divided into preimprovement (before April 2022; n = 81) and postimprovement (after April 2022; n = 77) groups.

Objective: Varicose vein ablation is generally indicated in patients with active/healed venous ulcers. However, patient selection for intervention in individuals without venous ulcers is less clear. Tools that predict lack of clinical improvement (LCI) following vein ablation may help guide clinical decision-making but remain limited.

For end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients requiring hemodialysis, reliable vascular access is crucial, especially when conventional supradiaphragmatic options are exhausted. This study reviews the technical aspects, clinical outcomes, and complications of translumbar and transhepatic tunneled dialysis catheter (TDC) placements. These alternative infradiaphragmatic approaches provide essential hemodialysis access for patients with central venous occlusions.

The recent advancements in cancer immunotherapy have spotlighted the potential of natural killer (NK) cells, particularly chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-transduced NK cells. These cells, pivotal in innate immunity, offer a rapid and potent response against cancer cells and pathogens without the need for prior sensitization or recognition of peptide antigens. Although NK cell genetic modification is evolving, the viral transduction method continues to be inefficient and fraught with risks, often resulting in cytotoxic outcomes and the possibility of insertional mutagenesis.
