This paper is devoted to the investigation of the plasmonic effect of metal nanoparticles (NPs) formed on the surface of the YAG: Bi, Ce, Yb phosphors in a temperature range between 4 and 300 K. Combination of a thin conversion layer with silver plasmonic nanostructures leads to increase of sensitizer absorption and emission efficiency. Enhancement of Bi luminescence in YAG epitaxial films with Ag NPs was observed upon cooling the samples below 200 K.

Importance: Bietti crystalline dystrophy (BCD) is a severe genetic retinopathy caused by variants in the CYP4V2 gene. Currently, there is no approved treatment for BCD.
Objective: To evaluate safety and vision outcomes following gene therapy with adeno-associated virus (AAV) encoding CYP4V2 (rAAV-hCYP4V2, NGGT001 [Next Generation Gene Therapeutics]).
Background: XPro1595 (XPro) is a brain-penetrant, recombinant protein variant of human tumor necrosis factor (TNF) rationally designed to selectively neutralize only the soluble, pro-inflammatory form of the cytokine (solTNF). An unbiased proteomic analysis of CSF samples from an open-label, phase-1b study (NCT03943264) in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) was conducted to assess for pharmacodynamic activity and disease-specific target engagement.
Method: Patients with AD (n = 20) were treated for 12-weeks with one of three doses of XPro: 0.

Background: Our lab recently developed 2 mouse monoclonal antibodies that preferentially react with "distressed astrocytes". One monoclonal, 26A6, was found to react preferentially with a form of the Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein phosphatase, calcineurin (CN), that has been cleaved by calpain, to generate a 48 kDa CN fragment (∆CN). We recently published a characterization of this antibody.

In this study, I report an unexpected case of a Holstein calf that developed horns even though the sire was homozygous and the dam was heterozygous for polledness. After verifying and confirming the correct parentage, the parents and offspring were genotyped with the Illumina EuroG_MD BeadChip and the SNPs in the polled region on chromosome 1 were evaluated. In addition, the father was sequenced with next generation sequencing to identify possible, previously unknown variants.
