The restriction of proteins, amino acids or sugars can have profound effects on the levels of hormones and factors including growth hormone, IGF-1 and insulin. In turn, these can regulate intracellular signaling pathways as well as cellular damage and aging, but also multisystem regeneration. Both intermittent (IF) and periodic fasting (PF) have been shown to have both acute and long-term effects on these hormones. Here, we review the effects of nutrients and fasting on hormones and genes established to affect aging and cancer. We describe the link between dietary interventions and genetic pathways affecting the levels of these hormones and focus on the mechanisms responsible for the cancer preventive effects. We propose that IF and PF can reduce tumor incidence both by delaying aging and preventing DNA damage and immunosenescence and also by killing damaged, pre-cancerous and cancer cells.

Background: Continent catheterizable channels (CCC) are a mainstay for reconstruction in patients with neurogenic bladders. Common complications include false passage, channel stenosis/difficult catheterization, channel incontinence, and stomal stenosis. This may result in the need for surgical revision or replacement.

Background: Recent research has demonstrated that the consumption of high fat diet (HFD) can lead to metabolic dysfunctions and cognitive impairments in both mice models and humans. Given the potential negative effects of HFD, it is crucial to explore non-pharmacological alternatives that can serve as a potential treatment for both metabolic dysfunctions and behavioral effects induced by HFD. Therefore, the aim of this study is to assess the impact of chronic and intermittent exposure to cold temperature on the metabolic and cognitive changes associated with HFD consumption.

We study the process of thermal convection in jammed emulsions with a yield-stress rheology. We find that heat transfer occurs via an intermittent mechanism, whereby intense short-lived convective "heat bursts" are spaced out by long-lasting conductive periods. This behavior is the result of a sequence of fluidization-rigidity transitions, rooted in a nontrivial interplay between emulsion yield-stress rheology and plastic activity, which we characterize via a statistical analysis of the dynamics at the droplet scale.

Patients with overactive bladder syndrome-wet (OAB-wet) experience urgency urinary incontinence, particularly urinary frequency and nocturia. Nocturnal enuresis (NE) is less addressed among OAB-wet patients. The study evaluated the prevalence of NE, lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), urodynamic factors, and social factors in OAB-wet patient.

Background And Objective: The Scania Accelerated Intermittent Theta-burst Implementation Study (SATIS) aimed to investigate the tolerability, preliminary effectiveness, and practical feasibility of an accelerated intermittent theta burst stimulation (aTBS) protocol in treating depression.
Methods: We used an open-label observational design, recruiting 20 patients (aged 19-84 years) from two public brain stimulation centers in Sweden. During the five-day treatment period and at a follow-up visit after 30 days we closely monitored adverse events and collected self-rated side effect data.
