2-Benzhydryl-4-methyl-6-(1,1'-diphenyl-2-phenyl-ethyl)aniline was prepared by a three-step process. 2,6-Bis(benzhydryl)-4-methyl-aniline was protected by Schiff coupling, then benzylated and finally dealkylated by using hydrochloric acid and methanol. The resulting compound exhibits one of the highest buried volumes around the nitrogen atom of anilines prepared so far, but it reacts with phosphorus trichloride and triethylamine to give a monomeric chloro(imino)phosphine.

Interleukin (IL) 37 is an anti-inflammatory cytokine belonging to the IL1 protein family. Owing to its pivotal role in modulating immune responses, elucidating the IL37 complex structures holds substantial therapeutic promise for various autoimmune disorders and cancers. However, none of the structures of IL37 complexes have been experimentally characterized.

Two-dimensional organic-inorganic perovskites have garnered extensive interest owing to their unique structure and optoelectronic performance. However, their loose structures complicate the elucidation of mechanisms and tend to cause uncertainty and variations in experimental and calculated results. This can generally be rooted in dynamically swinging spacer molecules through two mechanisms: one is the intrinsic geometric steric effect, and the other is related to the electronic effect orbital overlapping and electronic screening.

Peptides, due to their diverse and controllable properties, are used as both liquid and gas phase recognition elements for both biological and chemical targets. While it is well understood how binding of a peptide to a biomolecule can be converted into a sensing event, there is not the same mechanistic level of understanding with regard to how peptides modulate the selectivity of semiconductor/conductor-based gas sensors. Notably, a rational, mechanistic study has not yet been performed to correlate peptide properties to the sensor response for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) as a function of chemical properties.

The development of materials toward ppb-level nitric oxide (NO) sensing at room temperature remains in high demand for the monitoring of respiratory inflammatory diseases. In order to find an iron-containing molecule without steric hindrance to combine with graphene for room temperature NO gas sensing, here a supramolecular assembly of ferrocene (Fc) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) was designed and prepared for NO sensing. The assembly of Fc/rGO was characterized using FT-IR, TEM, and XPS measurements.
