The effective separation of dyes and inorganic salts is highly desirable for recycling inorganic salts and water resource in printing and dyeing wastewater treatment. In this work, tannic acid (TA) and polyethyleneimine (PEI) were grafted on the PES/Fe ultrafiltration membrane via the coordination assembly and Michael addition strategy to fabricated a loose nanofiltration membrane (LNM). The effect of PEI concentration on membrane morphologies and properties was systematically investigated. The membrane surface becomes more hydrophilic and transforms into positive charge after the PEI grafting. The optimized PES/Fe-TA-PEI membrane possesses high pure water flux (124.6 L·m·h) and excellent dye rejections (98.5%, 99.8%, 98.4%, and 86.4% for Congo red, Eriochrome black T, Alcian blue 8GX, and Bromophenol blue, respectively) under 2 bar operation pressure. Meanwhile, the LNM showed a high Alcian blue 8GX rejection (>98.4%) and low NaCl rejection (<5.3%) for the dye/salt mixed solutions separation. Moreover, the PES/Fe-TA-PEI LNM exhibited good antifouling performance and long-term performance stability. These results reveal that such LNM shows great potential for effective fractionation of dyes and salts and recycling of textile wastewater.

Traditional drying is a highly energy-intensive process, accounting for approximately 15% of total manufacturing cost, it often resulting in reduced product quality due to low drying efficiency. Biological and chemical agents, referred to as biochemical drying improvers, are employed as pretreatments to enhance both drying characteristics and quality attributes of fruits and vegetables. This article provides a thorough examination of various biochemical drying improvers (including enzymes, microorganisms, edible film coatings, ethanol, organic acids, hyperosmotic solutions, ethyl oleate alkaline solutions, sulfites, cold plasma, carbon dioxide, ozone, inorganic alkaline agents, and inorganic salts) and their effects on improving the drying processes of fruits and vegetables.

Bisphenol A (BPA, 4,4'-(propane-2,2-diyl)diphenol) is a common plasticizer that is very widespread in the environment and is also found at significant concentrations in the global oceans, due to contamination by plastics. Here we show that triplet sensitization is an important degradation pathway for BPA in natural surface waters, which could prevail if the water dissolved organic carbon is above 2-3 mg L. Bromide levels as per seawater conditions have the potential to slow down BPA photodegradation, a phenomenon that could not be offset by reaction of BPA with Br (second-order reaction rate constant of (2.

Thirteen imidazolium iodides bearing benzyl, mesityl, or 2,6-diiso-propyl-phenyl substituents on their nitrogen atoms, and C1 to C4 alkyl chains on their C2 carbon atom were readily deuterated with D2O as a cheap and non-toxic deuterium source in the presence of Cs2CO3, a weak, innocuous, inorganic base. The isotopic exchange proceeded quickly and efficiently under mild, aerobic conditions to afford a range of aNHC and NHO precursors regioselectively labeled on their C2α exocyclic position and/or C4=C5 heterocyclic backbone. A "carbene-free" mechanism was postulated, in which the carbonate anion acts as a catalyst to activate an exocyclic, acidic C-H bond and ease a deuterium transfer from D2O to the imidazolium salt in a concerted fashion.

During deepwater drilling, the low mudline temperatures and narrow safe density window pose serious challenges to the safe and efficient performance of deepwater water-based drilling fluids. Low temperatures can lead to physical and chemical changes in the components of water-based drilling fluids and the behavior of low temperature gelation. As a coarse dispersion system, water-based drilling fluid has a complex composition of dispersed phase and dispersing medium.

As an emerging class of hybrid materials, donor-acceptor (D-A) hybrid crystals with photoactive organic and inorganic components have gradually become an ideal platform for photochromic materials. Wherein the most available organic components are electron-poor naphthalenediimide, pyridinium, and triazine derivatives, inorganic units are electron-rich polyoxometalates and metal halides. Herein, we introduced pyridinium moieties into the naphthalenediimide core by conjugated bonds so as to increase the electron deficiency of organic species for enhanced photochromic properties.
