To evaluate the clinical efficacy of topical nasal Pomegranate Fruit Extract (PFE) for Chronic Rhinitis (CR), Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyposis (CRSwNP), and Chronic Rhinosinusitis without Nasal Polyposis (CRSsNP). Prospective, double-blinded, randomized study including 111 consecutive patients, between April 2012 and January 2017, afflicted by CRSwNP, CRSsNP, and CR. Patients from each group were randomly assigned to either PFE treatment or placebo twice daily for 30 days. Therapeutic efficacy was assessed by Ear Nose and Throat, blood and tomographic examinations, and the SNOT-20 questionnaire. CR patients treated with PFE suffered significantly less from thick nasal discharge, difficulty falling asleep, reduced productivity, reduced concentration, and sadness ( = .004, = .02, = .03, = .007 and = .02, respectively). Topical nasal PFE was found to have some benefits for CR patients, however, not for CRS with or without Nasal Polyposis.

Background: Increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) are involved in the pathological process of dry eye disease. Our previous results suggested that norepinephrine (NE) has a protective effect on dry eye.
Purpose: This study explored the potential therapeutic role and underlying mechanisms of NE in benzalkonium chloride (BAC)-induced dry eye disease.

Background: Corticosteroids are used in managing Chronic Rhinosinusitis (CRS) through several formulations, including oral steroids and nasal sprays. More recently, incorporating concentrated budesonide respules into high-volume saline irrigations has been proposed to enhance the penetration of topical steroids into the paranasal sinuses. We aim to evaluate the safety and efficacy of budesonide nasal irrigation (BNI) in managing CRS.

Introduction: Intranasal steroids are effective in managing adenoid hypertrophy in children, but the evidence regarding technique of use for optimal results is lacking.
Methods: CFD analysis, with discrete phase modelling was done to simulate nasal spray in nasal cavity and drug delivery in the region of adenoids. The findings were validated using a 3D model designed from CT scan of the same region.

Background: The colonization of (SA) acquired in nosocomial infections may develop acute and chronic infections such as Methicillin-Resistant (MRSA) in the nose. As a commensal microorganism with the ability to form a biofilm, SA can dwell on the skin, nostrils, throat, perineum, and axillae of healthy humans. Nitric oxide (NO) is an unstable gas with various molecular functions and has antimicrobial properties which are converted into many potential treatments.
