We aimed to determine the persisting effects of various exercise modalities and intensities on functional capacity after periods of training cessation in older adults. A comprehensive search was conducted across the Cochrane Library, PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, and Web of Science Core Collection up to March 2024 for randomized controlled trials examining residual effects of physical exercise on functional capacity in older adults ≥ 60 years. Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic respiratory disorder for which pirfenidone is the recommended first-line anti-fibrotic treatment. While pirfenidone has demonstrated efficacy in slowing the progression of IPF, its use is associated with several challenges and unresolved issues that impact patient outcomes. Pirfenidone administration can result in gastrointestinal side effects, photosensitivity reactions, and significant drug interactions, particularly in patients with hepatic impairment.

Unlabelled: Cervical cancer screening can effectively reduce the disease burden. In China, the current cervical cancer screening guidelines do not provide separate screening recommendations for women living with HIV (WLWH) to account for their increased risk. We developed a comprehensive individual-based simulation model to provide evidence to support tailored cervical cancer screening programs for WLWH in Guangxi, a region with a high prevalence of HIV in China.

An 88-year-old male with a history of cervical spondylosis (status post laminectomy of C2-C3 and laminoplasty of C4-C5), chronic congestive heart failure (CHF), pulmonary embolism, and lumbar spinal stenosis presented to an outpatient sports medicine clinic with neck pain following a fall five days prior due to loss of balance. He reported pain on the left side worsened by movement and accompanied by neck "clicking." A physical exam showed severe limitation in cervical spine extension limited by pain and loss of lordotic curve and a neurologic exam demonstrated weakness in the left leg secondary to a previous back surgery.
