Objectives: To present a solid index (SI), a 3D-printed replica of a patient's preexisting complete denture, which allows the dentist to accurately capture the position of the implants and the dental technician to model a bar for overdenture (OD) in CAD software with the use of reverse implant libraries.
Materials And Methods: A patient in need of rehabilitation of a fully edentulous mandible was restored with an implant OD supported by a polyetheretherketone (PEEK) milled bar. The position of the implants was captured through a physical impression using an SI, with the transfers screwed in. The analogs were then connected, and the SI was scanned upside down to directly capture the position of the implants in the space. This scan was used to design the bar in CAD software using reverse implant libraries, without the need for pouring any SI-derived cast or for using any scanbody. The bar was milled in PEEK.
Results: When delivered to the patient, the bar was clinically precise, screwing perfectly onto the implants without any tension or misfit.
Conclusions: The present proof-of-concept article supports the use of an SI and reverse implant libraries for the fabrication of a bar for OD. Further clinical studies are needed to confirm these results.

Tinnitus, a widespread condition affecting numerous individuals worldwide, remains a significant challenge due to limited effective therapeutic interventions. Intriguingly, patients using cochlear implants (CIs) have reported significant relief from tinnitus symptoms, although the underlying mechanisms remain unclear and intracochlear implantation risks cochlear damage and hearing loss. This study demonstrates that targeted intracochlear electrical stimulation (ES) in guinea pigs with noise-induced hearing loss reversed tinnitus-related maladaptive plasticity in the cochlear nucleus (CN), characterized by reduced auditory innervation, increased somatosensory innervation, and diminished inhibitory neural networks.

Background: Use of long-acting, reversible contraceptives has increased over the past 20 years, but an understanding of how they could influence cancer risk is limited.
Methods: We conducted a nested case-control study among a national cohort of Australian women (n = 176 601 diagnosed with cancer between 2004 and 2013; 882 999 matched control individuals) to investigate the associations between the levonorgestrel intrauterine system, etonogestrel implants, depot-medroxyprogesterone acetate and cancer risk and compared these results with the oral contraceptive pill. We used conditional logistic regression to estimate odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI).

The present study aims to analyze the thermal regulation of the Ce/Ce ratio on the nanonetwork titania layer over the titanium (Ti) surface developed by the alkali-mediated surface modification approach. The effect of sequential heat treatment from 200 to 800 °C was evaluated for its surface characteristics such as morphology, phase formation, roughness, hardness, hydrophilicity, etc. Surface oxidation by temperatures up to 600 °C demonstrated a progressive increase in the Ce (CeO) content with a rutile TiO network layer over the Ti surface.

Monitoring dynamic neurochemical signals in the brain of free-moving animals remains great challenging in biocompatibility and direct implantation capability of current electrodes. Here we created a self-supporting polymer-based flexible microelectrode (rGPF) with sufficient bending stiffness for direct brain implantation without extra devices, but demonstrating low Young's modulus with remarkable biocompatibility and minimal position shifts. Meanwhile, screening by density functional theory (DFT) calculation, we designed and synthesized specific ligands targeting Mg2+ and Ca2+, and constructed Mg-E and Ca-E sensors with high selectivity, good reversibility, and fast response time, successfully monitoring Mg2+ and Ca2+ in vivo up to 90 days.

Methods: Eligible patients were identified using linked national data from the Danish Shoulder Arthroplasty Registry and Statistics Denmark between April 2012 and April 2019. Univariable and multivariable linear regression was used to identify the association between socioeconomic factors and the WOOS index at 1 year following primary shoulder arthroplasty adjusted for age, sex, underlying diagnosis, implant design, and comorbidities.
