In January 2021, the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) announced the permanent suspension of their Step 2 Clinical Skills (CS) examination. Launched in 2004, the Step 2 CS examination was intended to ensure that physicians entering graduate medical education possess the necessary information gathering, clinical reasoning, and communication skills necessary to provide patient care. Although the requirement that doctors pass a clinical skills examination as a condition of licensure likely improved some elements of medical education and physician practice, the Step 2 CS examination was deeply unpopular among many medical students since its inception. The demise of USMLE Step 2 CS provides an opportunity to re-examine the test's value and incorporate improvements in future iterations. However, doing so requires a clear understanding of why the test was so vigorously challenged. Here, we review the history of clinical skills examinations used for medical licensure in the United States and highlight the persistent concerns regarding Step 2 CS's cost, value, validity, and lack of examinee feedback before proposing future improvements to address each concern.

Methods: The population of this descriptive, cross-sectional, and relation-seeking multicenter study consisted of nurses working in 5 neonatal intensive care units located in 3 provinces of Türkiye. Data were collected using the Information Form, which included nurses' sociodemographic information and internal-external factors affecting evidence-based care practices, the Evidence-Based Nursing Attitude Questionnaire (EBNAQ).

This mini-review examines the available papers about virtual reality (VR) as a tool for the diagnosis or therapy of neurodevelopmental disorders, focusing on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD). Through a search on literature, we selected 62 studies published between 1998 and 2024. After exclusion criteria, our synoptic table includes 32 studies on ADHD (17 were on diagnostic evaluation and 15 were on therapeutic interventions), 2 on pure ASD, and 2 on pure SLD.

Background: Recent research in the field of "Arts and Health" has demonstrated the beneficial impact of arts-based interventions on health and well-being across diverse populations. Recognizing their potential, especially in cases where conventional healthcare cannot address the multifaceted impact of conditions such as in Parkinson's disease (PD), our study advocates for an integrative approach in medical practice and neuroscience. We recommend incorporating learning environments from the design phase through long-term care.
