On-demand ridesourcing services from transportation network companies (TNCs), such as Uber and Lyft, have reshaped urban travel and changed externality costs from vehicle emissions, congestion, crashes, and noise. To quantify these changes, we simulate replacing private vehicle travel with TNCs in six U.S. cities. On average, we find a 50-60% decline in air pollutant emission externalities from NO, PM, and VOCs due to avoided "cold starts" and relatively newer, lower-emitting TNC vehicles. However, increased vehicle travel from deadheading creates a ∼20% increase in fuel consumption and associated greenhouse gas emissions and a ∼60% increase in external costs from congestion, crashes, and noise. Overall, shifting private travel to TNCs increases external costs by 30-35% (adding 32-37 ¢ of external costs per trip, on average). This change in externalities increases threefold when TNCs displace transit or active transport, drops by 16-17% when TNC vehicles are zero-emission electric, and potentially results in reduced externalities when TNC rides are pooled.

In this paper, we introduce a crowd surveillance system using mobile robots and intelligent vehicles to provide obstacle avoidance in transportation stations with a consideration of different moving strategies of the robots in an existing 2D area supported by line-based barriers and surveillance formations.

Purpose: Travel burden negatively impacts the stage at diagnosis, treatment, outcome, and quality of life among patients with cancer. Travel burden-quantified as distance, time, and cost of travel-is magnified in low- and middle-income countries like the Philippines, where radiation therapy (RT) resources are lacking and are inequitably distributed.
Methods And Materials: We compared Philippine Radiation Oncology Society data and the population census to determine the distribution and density of RT facilities across the country's 17 regions.

In the context of population ageing, the age-friendliness of neighborhood built environment (NBE) is increasingly recognized as essential for enabling ageing in place. However, while much research has focused on the impact of NBE on the physical health of older adults, its relationship with mental health (MH) remains underexplored, especially the pathways through which NBE indicators influence MH. This study measured NBE using ten indicators across three categories: daily travel (including barrier-free travel, elevator, rest seat, diversion of pedestrian and vehicle, road surface and public toilet), healthcare services (including public canteen and elderly care), and social participation (including outdoor fitness space and indoor activity space).

Background: Driving under the influence of alcohol and other drugs contributes significantly to road traffic crashes worldwide. This study explored trends of alcohol, methylamphetamine (MA), 3,4-methylenedioxy-N-methylamphetamine (MDMA) and Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), in road crashes from 2010 to 2019 in Victoria, Australia.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional analysis using data from the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine and Victoria Police, examining proscribed drug detections in road crashes.
