RNA-guided endonucleases (RGENs) have been used for genome editing in various organisms. Here, we demonstrate a simple method for performing targeted mutagenesis and genotyping in a model moss species, , using RGENs. We also performed targeted mutagenesis in a non-model moss, , using a similar method ( Nomura , 2016 ), indicating that this experimental system could be applied to a wide range of mosses species.

Two symbiotic processes, nodulation and arbuscular mycorrhiza, are primarily controlled by the plant's need for nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P), respectively. Autoregulation of nodulation (AON) and autoregulation of mycorrhizal symbiosis (AOM) both negatively regulate their respective processes and share multiple components-plants that make too many nodules usually have higher arbuscular mycorrhiza (AM) fungal root colonization. The protein TML (TOO MUCH LOVE) was shown to function in roots to maintain susceptibly to rhizobial infection under low N conditions and control nodule number through AON in .

Avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC) constitutes a significant threat to poultry health worldwide, causing colibacillosis and inflicting substantial economic losses. The ability to resist serum-mediated killing is a key virulence factor enabling APEC to circumvent the host immune system and establish systemic infection. In this study, we employed mariner-based transposon mutagenesis to generate a mutant library of APEC strain E058 and screened for mutants with reduced serum resistance.

The functional specialization of CD4 T lymphocytes into various subtypes, including T1 and T cells, is crucial for effective immune responses. T cells facilitate B cell differentiation within germinal centers, while T1 cells are vital for cell-mediated immunity against intracellular pathogens. Integrin α4, a cell surface adhesion molecule, plays significant roles in cell migration and co-stimulatory signaling.

A dwarf mutant with short branches (csdf) was identified from EMS-induced mutagenesis. Bulked segregant analysis sequencing and map-based cloning revealed CsKAO encoding ent-kaurenoic acid oxidase as the causal gene. Plant architecture is the primary target of artificial selection during domestication and improvement based on the determinate function for fruit yield.

The CECR2 bromodomain (CECR2-BRD) plays a pivotal role in directing the activity of CECR2 through its capacity to recognize and bind acetylated lysine residues on histone proteins. This study elucidates the binding specificity and structural mechanisms of CECR2-BRD interactions with both histone and non-histone ligands, employing techniques such as isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, and a high-throughput peptide assay.
