The contribution of gene rs3738067 A>G to the Wilms tumor susceptibility.

YTHDF2 is responsible for maintaining the dynamic N-methyladenosine (mA) modification balance and influences a variety of cancers. We tested whether gene rs3738067 A>G polymorphism is related to Wilms tumor by genotyping samples of Chinese children (450 cases and 1317 controls). However, the rs3738067 A>G polymorphism showed no statistical significance with Wilms tumor susceptibility. Stratification analysis also revealed that there was no remarkable association of rs3738067 variant AG/GG genotype with Wilms tumor risk in every subgroup (age, gender, and clinical stages). In all, the results indicated gene rs3738067 A>G polymorphism could not alter Wilms tumor risk significantly.

Background: Hypoxia is associated with the onset of cardiovascular diseases including cardiac hypertrophy and pulmonary hypertension. HIF2 (hypoxia-inducible factor 2) signaling in the endothelium mediates pulmonary arterial remodeling and subsequent elevation of the right ventricular systolic pressure during chronic hypoxia. Thus, novel therapeutic opportunities for pulmonary hypertension based on specific HIF2 inhibitors have been proposed.

Wilms' tumor (WT), also known as nephroblastoma, is a malignant embryonal kidney tumor composed of embryonic cells and is the most prevalent tumor among children, but isolated cases occur infrequently in the adult population. Adult WT is defined according to the criteria of Kilton, Matthews, and Cohen, which comprise age above 15 years and histological patterns characteristic of WT. We report a case of an adult WT with venous thrombus on an incomplete duplex collecting system.
