Objective: The aim of the research is to determine "to and fro" venous flap blood circulation perfusion ability and flap size survival.

Patients And Methods: Materials and methods: "To and fro" blood circulation mathematical model based on the theory of compressed liquid flow thought the porous medium.

Results: Result: Designed mathematical model allows to calculate the viable flap size that depends on pedicle vessel radius, the blood pressure gradient, the blood viscosity, the elastic tissue capacity, the pulse frequency, vessels flap topography and surgical pedicle flap technique. Viable flap width may extent up to 4-6 cm.

Conclusion: Conclusions: Only thin skin or fascial flaps, were through venous pedicle with a lot of side branches located under the flap surface and along central flap axis may survive with "to and fro" blood circulation.

Pulmonary atresia with an intact ventricular septum is characterised by heterogeneity in right ventricle morphology and coronary anatomy. In some cases, the presence of ventriculocoronary connections may promote coronary artery stenosis or interruption, and aortic diastolic pressure may not be sufficient to drive coronary blood flow. This requires a correct evaluation (currently done by angiography) which depends on whether the patient can be offered decompression of the right ventricle.

Evolution of type II endoleaks based on different ultrasound-identified patterns.

J Vasc Surg

April 2018

Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook, NY. Electronic address:

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to analyze different types of waveforms in type II endoleaks (T2ELs) and their influence on aneurysm sac size after endovascular aneurysm repair.
  • Out of 382 patients, 56 (14.65%) were diagnosed with T2EL, primarily within the first year post-procedure, with a majority being male and an average age of 74 years.
  • Several T2EL flow patterns were identified, showing varying outcomes: high-resistance, low-flow endoleaks mostly occluded, while low-resistance, high-flow endoleaks showed higher rates of sac enlargement and needed treatment.

Background: Food access, cost and availability have been identified as determinants of dietary choice. It has been suggested that these are socio-economically patterned; however, the evidence is inconclusive. The present study investigated whether differences exist with respect to healthy food access, cost and availability between areas of contrasting deprivation.

Mutational analysis of the Potyviridae transcriptional slippage site utilized for expression of the P3N-PIPO and P1N-PISPO proteins.

Nucleic Acids Res

September 2016

Division of Virology, Department of Pathology, University of Cambridge, Addenbrooke's Hospital, Hills Road, Cambridge CB2 0QQ, UK

The Potyviridae comprise the largest and most important family of RNA plant viruses. An essential overlapping ORF, termed pipo, resides in an internal region of the main polyprotein ORF. Recently, expression of pipo was shown to depend on programmed transcriptional slippage at a conserved GAAAAAA sequence, resulting in the insertion of an extra A into a proportion of viral transcripts, fusing the pipo ORF in frame with the 5' third of the polyprotein ORF.

The neutral type 2 sphingomyelinase (nSMase2) hydrolyzes sphingomyelin and generates ceramide, a major bioactive sphingolipid mediator, involved in growth arrest and apoptosis. The role of nSMase2 in apoptosis is debated, and apparently contradictory results have been observed on fibroblasts isolated from nSMase2-deficient fragilitas ossium (homozygous fro/fro) mice. These mice exhibit a severe neonatal dysplasia, a lack of long bone mineralization and delayed apoptosis patterns of hypertrophic chondrocytes in the growth plate.
