AI Article Synopsis

Article Abstract

The article presents an experience with the operative treatment of 476 patients with recurrent dilatation of superficial veins of lower extremities. True and false variants of the recurrences are discussed as well as problems of their diagnosis and treatment. Stress is made on high specific weight (87%) of patients with the development of recurrences due to incomplete examinations and technical defects during the first operation. In 13% of the patients recurrences were caused by progress of the varicose disease and non-eliminated hypertension in profound veins due to their ectasia and incompetence of the valves.

To measure the influence of ganglion cell layer (GCL) thickness on the changes in size and red blood cell (RBC) flow in small retinal vessels evoked by full-field flicker. We used a dual-beam adaptive optics scanning laser ophthalmoscope to image 11 healthy young controls in two retinal areas with significantly different GCL thicknesses. All capillaries and arterioles of the superficial vascular plexus were responsive to the flicker stimulation.

Differences in the Microvascular Arrangement Lead to Improved Clinical Diagnostics of Esophageal Neoplasms: A Single-Center Retrospective Study.

Diagnostics (Basel)

December 2024

Department of Gastroenterology, Tokyo Metropolitan Cancer and Infectious Diseases Center, Komagome Hospital, 3-18-22 Honkomagome, Bunkyo-Ku, Tokyo 113-8677, Japan.

Background/objectives: Superficial esophageal cancer is diagnosed by evaluating the vascular architecture, including dilation, tortuosity, caliber change, and shape, of a lesion. However, this diagnosis is subjective and requires extensive experience. Endoscopically distinguishing squamous intraepithelial neoplasia (SIN) from esophageal cancer is difficult.

We present a case of arterial bypass for extensive stenosis of the ulnar artery and superficial palmar arch. The ulnar artery and the superficial palmar arch were bypassed using the great saphenous vein. Postoperatively, blood flow to the affected fingers gradually improved and the pain disappeared.

Background: Arteriovenous malformation (AVM) and developmental venous anomaly (DVA) rarely coexist. Developing a surgical strategy to treat this co-occurrence is difficult due to the unclear pathogenesis. We report the use of super-selective digital subtraction angiography (DSA) and Three-dimensional (3D) rotational digital subtraction venography (DSV) to develop a surgical strategy for complex AVM draining into a DVA.
