Background: Marginal seal of a nanohybrid bulk-fill composite compared to a nanohybrid conventional composite, using a universal adhesive (UA) applied in etch-and-rinse (ER) and self-etch (SE) mode was investigated.
Material And Methods: Thirty-six intact molars were selected and two standardized cavities in each tooth were prepared and allocated into four groups according to restorative material and etching strategy. All samples were placed in a 1% methylene blue solution for 24 h, then cut in the middle of the restorations obtaining two parts (n=144) and used for microscopic evaluation (50x) for dye penetration measurements.
Results: The data were analysed by ANOVA and Tukey post-hoc test (<0.05). Marginal seal was influenced by adhesive strategy (<0.05) but not from the composite used (>0.05).
Conclusions: Simplified restorations with nanohybrid bulk-fill composite showed comparable marginal leakage to incrementally placed nanohybrid composite. The UA used with a ER technique resulted in better marginal seal irrespective of the restorative material used. Bulk-fill composite, universal adhesive, self-etching, etch-and-rinse, marginal seal.

The aim of this study was to evaluate, in vitro, the void formation and marginal adaptation in Class II cavities restored with preheated and injected bulk-fill resin composites. Eighty third molars received Class II cavities on their mesial and distal surfaces and were randomly distributed into eight groups (n = 10) according to material (Filtek Universal-control, incremental technique; Filtek One Bulk-Fill; Admira Fusion X-tra Bulk-Fill; VisCalor Bulk-Fill) and the temperature of the material (24 °C or 68 °C). The restored teeth were scanned using a SkyScan 1173 microtomograph.

Bulk-fill, monochromatic, and ORMOCER composites were introduced in restorative dentistry with the aim of reducing clinical time and/or alleviating contraction stresses at the interface between the tooth and restoration. While the conversion and immediate properties of these materials are comparable to conventional composites, studies evaluating their long-term properties and the structure of the polymer matrix are lacking. The objective of this study was to evaluate the degree of conversion and, indirectly, the crosslink density of conventional, bulk-fill, monochromatic, and ORMOCER resin composites.

The emergence of toothpastes containing different abrasive and whitening substances has been a constant concern among dental professionals. The aim of the present study was to perform an in vitro assessment of the surface topography of nanoparticle composite resins subjected to simulated brushing with dentifrices. Test samples were prepared with Filtek Universal (3M ESPE), Filtek Bulkfill (3M ESPE) and Z350 (3M ESPE), with 24 samples per resin.

This study assessed the effect of composite resins, aggregated or not with S-PRG particles, and the use of toothpaste in controlling demineralization and bacterial growth. Human molars were distributed into 3 groups: control (CT) - sound teeth, Beautifil Bulk Restorative System (aggregated with S-PRG) (BB), Filtek One Bulk Fill (without S-PRG) (FB). Teeth destined for groups BB and FB previously received Class I preparations (4 × 4 × 4 mm), followed by single-increment restorations.
