Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a prevalent neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by social, communication, and behavioral challenges. Emergency medical services (EMS) environments, with their loud noises, bright lights, and unfamiliar personnel, often exacerbate these challenges, making care for individuals with ASD particularly complex. To address these challenges, the Franciscan Crown Point EMS system introduced the "Ben's Blue Bags" (BBBs) program.

Objectives: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has significantly disrupted emergency medical service (EMS) prehospital care for patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA), necessitating a thorough assessment of its effects on prehospital time and emergency interventions. Therefore, we aimed to analyze the changes in EMS operations before and after the onset of the pandemic and their potential effects on patient care.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed OHCA cases between January 2017 and December 2022, categorizing them into pre-pandemic and pandemic phases.
Background: At the request of the Statewide Healthcare Coordination Center, the Minnesota Critical Care Working Group (CCWG) and ethics subgroup (EWG), composed of interprofessional leaders from Minnesota's nine largest health systems were asked to plan and coordinate critical care operations during the COVID-19 pandemic, including the 2021 Fall surge.
Research Question: Can a statewide Working Group collaboratively analyze real time evidence to identify crisis conditions and engage state leadership to implement care processes?
Study Design And Methods: CCWG/EWG met via video conferencing during the Fall 2021 severe surge to analyze evidence and plan for potential crisis care conditions. Five sources of evidence informed their actions including group consensus on operating conditions; Federal Tele-Tracking data; MOCC patient placement data; and two surveys created and distributed to hospitals and healthcare professionals.

Approximately 10% of undergraduate student populations are neurodivergent. Such students have differences in executive functioning and social communication skills, which can confer both strengths and challenges in the academic environment. Specific challenges presenting in the veterinary curriculum include the intense workload, unpredictable nature of work, and high level of interpersonal and communication skills required in clinical settings.
