Focal atrial tachycardia arising from the right atrial appendage (RAAT) may be misdiagnosed as sinus tachycardia. The electrocardiogram from this case demonstrates a negative notched P-wave in leads V and V during RAAT compared with a beat of sinus rhythm. RAAT was confirmed and eliminated with mapping and ablation. ().

Infective endocarditis (IE) is an infectious disease caused by the hematogenous dissemination of bacteria into heart valves. Improving the identification of pathogens that cause IE is important to increase the effectiveness of its therapy and reduce the mortality caused by this pathology. Ten native heart valves obtained from IE patients undergoing heart valve replacements were analyzed.

Background: Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is an emerging infectious disease characterized by leukopenia and thrombocytopenia, and aspergillosis is a common complication in severe cases. Previous studies have reported cases of SFTS complicated with invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA) and central nervous system aspergillosis. Here, we present the first case of an immunocompetent patient with SFTS who progressed to IPA and Aspergillus endocarditis after glucocorticoid treatment, and embolism of the vegetations from the left ventricle led to multiple infarctions in the brain, kidney, and spleen.

Background: The elderly population (≥80 years) were underrepresented in recent trials of endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) for anterior circulation large vessel occlusion acute ischemic stroke (LVO-AIS) with low Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (ASPECTS) (≤5).
Methods: This study analyzed data from a prospectively maintained database of 37 thrombectomy centers. The primary cohort of the study comprised patients with LVO-AIS aged ≥80 who underwent EVT with ASPECTS≤5 from 2013 to 2023.

Background And Objective: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a significant cause of life-threatening heart disease due to its potential to lead to stroke and heart failure. Although deep learning-assisted diagnosis of AF based on ECG holds significance in clinical settings, it remains unsatisfactory due to insufficient consideration of noise and redundant features. In this work, we propose a novel multiscale feature-enhanced gating network (MFEG Net) for AF diagnosis.

Background: Transcriptional dysregulation, possibly affected by genetic variation, contributes to disease development. Due to dissimilarities in development, function, and remodeling during disease progression, transcriptional differences between the left atrial (LA) and right atrial (RA) may provide insight into diseases such as atrial fibrillation.
Methods: Lateral differences in atrial transcription were evaluated in CATCH ME (Characterizing Atrial fibrillation by Translating its Causes into Health Modifiers in the Elderly) using a 2-stage discovery and replication design.
