Background: Gastric cancer peritoneal metastasis lacks effective predictive indices. This article retrospectively explored predictive values of DNA ploidy, stroma, and nucleotyping in gastric cancer peritoneal metastasis.

Methods: A comprehensive analysis was conducted on specimens obtained from 80 gastric cancer patients who underwent gastric resection at the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery of Wuhan University Renmin Hospital.

The main obstacle to large scale quantum computing are the errors present in every physical qubit realization. Correcting these errors requires a large number of additional qubits. Two main avenues to reduce this overhead are (i) low-density parity check (LDPC) codes requiring very few additional qubits to correct errors (ii) cat qubits where bit-flip errors are exponentially suppressed by design.

MPEMDA: A Multi-Similarity Integration Approach with Pre-completion and Error Correction for Predicting Microbe-Drug Associations.

Methods

January 2025

School of Computer Science and Engineering, Central South University, Changsha 410083, China; Hunan Provincial Key Lab on Bioinformatics, Central South University, Changsha 410083, China.

Exploring the associations between microbes and drugs offers valuable insights into their underlying mechanisms. Traditional wet lab experiments, while reliable, are often time-consuming and labor-intensive, making computational approaches an attractive alternative. Existing similarity-based machine learning models for predicting microbe-drug associations typically rely on integrated similarities as input, neglecting the unique contributions of individual similarities, which can compromise predictive accuracy.

Mixed reality for preoperative planning and intraoperative assistance of surgical correction of complex congenital heart defects.

J Thorac Cardiovasc Surg

January 2025

Division of Cardiology, The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, ON, Canada; Center for Image Guided Innovation and Therapeutic Intervention, The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, ON, Canada.

Objectives: Mixed reality (MixR) is an innovative visualization tool that presents virtual elements in a real-world environment, enabling real-time interaction between the user and the combined digital/physical reality. We aimed to explore the feasibility of MixR in enhancing preoperative planning and intraoperative guidance for the correction of various complex congenital heart defects (CHDs).

Methods: Patients underwent cardiac computed tomography or cardiac magnetic resonance and segmentation of digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) images was performed.

Electronic address:

Background: Huangkui capsule (HKC), a Chinese patent medicine, is clinically used for treating diabetic nephropathy. However, the core disease-specific biomarkers and targets of type 2 diabetic nephropathy (T2DN) and the therapeutic mechanism of HKC are not fully elucidated.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects and underlying molecular mechanisms of HKC for T2DN.
