The multifunctional two-dimensional (2D) organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites have potential applications in many fields, such as, semiconductor, energy storage and fluorescent device etc. Here, a 2D Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) perovskite (IPA) (FA)Pb I (1, IPA =C H NI , FA =CN H ) is determined for its photophysical properties. Strikingly, 1 reveals a solid reversible phase transition with T of 382 K accompanied by giant entropy change of 40 J mol K . Further optical investigations indicate that 1 reveals a narrow direct bandgap (2.024 eV) attributed to the slight bending of I-Pb-I edge and inorganic [Pb I ] layer and a superior photoluminescence (PL) emission with super long lifetime of 0.1607 ms. It is believed that this work will pave an avenue to further design multifunctional semiconductors that combines energy storage and photoelectric materials.

Magnetocaloric high-entropy alloys (HEAs) have recently garnered significant interest owing to their potential applications in magnetic refrigeration, offering a wide working temperature range and large refrigerant capacity. In this study, we thoroughly investigated the structural, magnetic, and magnetocaloric properties of equiatomic GdDyHoErTm HEAs. The as-cast alloy exhibits a single hexagonal phase, a randomly distributed grain orientation, and complex magnetism.

Adiabatic demagnetization refrigeration (ADR) based on the magnetocaloric effect (MCE) is a promising technique to achieve cryogenic temperature. However, magnetic entropy change (Δ), the driving force of ADR, remains far below theoretical -Δ = ln(2 + 1)/ for most magnetic refrigerants. Here, we report giant MCE in orthorhombic EuCl, where a ferromagnetic ground state with excellent single-ion behavior of Eu and free spins has been demonstrated by combining calculations with Brillouin function analysis and magnetic measurements.

Giant water bugs (Hemiptera: Belostomatidae) are top predators in wetland ecosystems, serving as biological indicators of the health of lentic ecosystems and as effective biological control agents for freshwater snails and mosquitoes. This study aimed to predict the current and future distribution of two Korean giant water bugs, and , under three climate change scenarios, contributing to the sustainable management of wetland ecosystems in South Korea. Using MaxEnt models, we employed seven climatic and three non-climatic variables to investigate the habitat preferences and distribution patterns of the species.
