Purpose: We developed a virtual tagging technique that reconstructs tagging images using the displacement field obtained by applying B-spline free-form deformation (FFD) between diastolic images and images of other cardiac phases in cardiac cine MRI. The purpose of this study was to validate its characteristics and usefulness in phantom and patient studies.
Methods: Digital phantoms simulating uniform and non-uniform wall motion models were created, and virtual tagging images were reconstructed with various matrix sizes and tag resolutions to evaluate the accuracy of FFD and the characteristics of the tags. In the patient study, FFD's accuracy was assessed at three levels (base, middle, and apex) in healthy patients. In patients with heart failure, virtual tagging images were compared with strain maps obtained by feature tracking and virtual tagging.
Results: In the phantom study, blurring of tags was observed when tags were reconstructed with high resolution using a small matrix size. In the patient study, the accuracy of FFD was lower in the base than in the apex. Patients with heart failure had decreased distortion of the displacement field vector and virtual tags, indicating decreased local wall motion, consistent with areas of abnormalities found in strain maps.
Conclusion: The virtual tagging technique does not require additional imaging and can visualize regional LV motion abnormalities via deformation of the tag as well as conventional cardiovascular magnetic resonance tagging.

The synthesis of enantiomeric forms of D-amino acids can be achieved by a two-step "hydantoinase process" based on the sequential catalysis of substrates by specific enzymes, D-carbamoylase and D-hydantoinase. Here, we describe the structural features of D-carbamoylase from , the encoded gene of which was chemically synthesized and cloned into . A significant fraction of the overexpressed recombinant protein forms insoluble inclusion bodies, which are partially converted to a soluble state upon treatment with N-lauroylsarcosine or upon incubation of cells at 28 °C.

Here, we report workshop outcomes.
Methods: After a 1-h didactic on the basics of triage protocols, workshop participants rotated through three skill stations at which learners learned how to use the VR headset and controllers, practiced applying SALT triage skills through a tabletop exercise, and then finally used our VR simulator for training responses to MCIs.

Typhoon disasters undergo a complex evolutionary process influenced by temporal changes, and investigating this process constitutes the central focus of geographical research. As a key node within the typhoon disaster process, the state serves as the foundation for gauging the dynamics of the disaster. The majority of current approaches to disaster information extraction rely on event extraction methods to acquire fundamental elements, including disaster-causing factors, disaster-bearing bodies, disaster-pregnant environment and the extent of damage.

This work describes the successful synthesis of a series of three novel thiazolidinone-carvone-O-alkyl hybrids through a two-step approach involving heterocyclization and O-alkylation reactions. Comprehensive structural characterization of the obtained products was achieved using NMR and HRMS spectroscopic techniques. This study assessed antiproliferative activity of synthesized thiazolidinone-carvone-O-alkyl hybrids () against various human cancer cell lines, viz.

Forensic anthropologists are often confronted with human remains that have been damaged due to trauma, fire, or postmortem taphonomic alteration, frequently resulting in the fracture and fragmentation of skeletal elements. The augmented reality (AR) technology introduced in this paper builds on familiar 3D visualization methods and utilizes them to make three dimensional holographic meshes of skeletal fragments that can be manipulated, tagged, and examined by the user. Here, CT scans, neural radiance fields (NeRF) artificial intelligence software, and Unreal Engine production software are utilized to construct a three-dimensional holographic image that can be manipulated with HoloLens™ technology to analyze the fracture margin and reconstruct craniofacial elements without causing damage to fragile remains via excessive handling.
