Purpose: To describe the clinical course of a patient presenting with unilateral retinopathy after perilesional interferon alpha injections for treatment of ocular surface squamous cell carcinoma.
Observations: A patient, who was being treated with interferon alpha for ocular squamous cell carcinoma, presented with new onset decreased vision in her left eye. Upon examination, she was found to have cotton wool spots and retinal hemorrhages in the affected eye.
Conclusions And Importance: Retinopathy is a well-documented side effect of systemic usage of interferon alpha. However, retinopathy has not been well discussed in the scenario of perilesional injections of interferon. It is important for clinicians to monitor for such pathology when using interferon alpha not only systemically, but also locally.

Background: Myelofibrosis (MF) is a clonal haematopoietic disease, with median overall survival for patients with primary MF only 6.5 years. The most frequent gene mutation found in patients is JAK2, causing constitutive activation of the kinase and activation of downstream signalling.

Long dsRNA induces the expression of type I interferons (IFNs) and IFN-stimulated genes (ISGs) to establish an antiviral state. When induced prophylactically, this antiviral state can reduce the severity and mortality of viral infections. One of the limiting factors in delivering dsRNA in animal models is the lack of an effective carrier that protects the dsRNA from degradation in the extracellular space.

Introduction And Importance: Conjunctival squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the most advanced form of ocular surface squamous neoplasia (OSSN), with varying incidence rates influenced by factors such as age, UV exposure, and occupation. Early detection is crucial, but misdiagnosis is common, especially when SCC mimics benign conditions like pterygium.
Case Presentation: An 83-year-old Caucasian male farmer presented with a rapidly enlarging nasal limbal lesion, initially misdiagnosed as pterygium.

Background: The impact of probiotics as gut and immunological modulator in restoring gut microbial balance and immune cells expression have generated much attention in the health sector. Its inhibitory effect on bacterial translocation and associated neural inflammatory processes has been reported. However, there is scarcity of data on its neuroprotective impact against neuroinflammation-associated neurodegeneration and memory impairment.

Therapeutic proteins are commonly conjugated with polymers to modulate their pharmacokinetics but often lack a description of the polymer-protein interaction. We deployed limited proteolysis mass spectrometry (LiP-MS) to reveal the interaction of polyethylene glycol (PEG) and PEG alternative polymers with interferon-α2a (IFN). Target conjugates were digested with the specific protease trypsin and a "heavy" 15N-IFN wild type (IFN-WT) for time-resolved quantification of the cleavage dynamics.
