Feasibility of on-site CT-FFR analysis on cardiac photon-counting CT in evaluation of hemodynamically significant stenosis in comparison to invasive catheter angiography.

Eur J Radiol

January 2025

Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, University Medical Center Mannheim, Heidelberg University, Theodor-Kutzer-Ufer 1-3, 68167 Mannheim, Germany. Electronic address:

Objectives: Coronary CT angiography (CCTA) is an excellent tool in ruling out coronary artery disease (CAD) but tends to overestimate especially highly calcified plaques. To reduce diagnostic invasive catheter angiographies (ICA), current guidelines recommend CT-FFR to determine the hemodynamic significance of coronary artery stenosis. Photon-Counting Detector CT (PCCT) revolutionized CCTA and may improve CT-FFR analysis in guiding patients.

Background: Locally advanced pancreatic adenocarcinomas (LA-PDAC) are more frequently operated now than in the past because of new regimen chemotherapy and improvement in surgical technique. Resection of the coeliac trunk (CT) during pancreatoduodenectomy (PD) or total pancreatectomy (TP) is not routinely done owing to the risk of liver and gastric ischaemia. In this video, a patient with LA-PDAC underwent TP with CT resection and retrograde gastric revascularization through the distal splenic artery.

Impact Of Open And Endovascular Caseload In Lower Limb Amputation In Portugal - An Analysis From 2000 To 2015.

Port J Card Thorac Vasc Surg

October 2024

Department of Surgery and Physiology, Cardiovascular R&D Unit, Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto, Portugal; Centro Hospitalar de Vila Nova de Gaia e Espinho, Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal.

Objectives: Effective revascularization is the cornerstone of limb salvage in chronic limb threatening ischemia. In recent years, less invasive endovascular revascularization techniques have supplanted surgical bypass as the primary mode of revascularization. The real impact of this transition is being increasingly questioned.

Objectives: Aim of this study was to assess safety and efficiency of multiarterial coronary bypass grafting using bilateral internal thoracic arteries in T-graft technique performed by trainees.

Methods: Patients from January 2005 to February 2023 who had undergone multiarterial coronary bypass grafting using bilateral internal thoracic arteries in T-graft technique were analysed. Patients were divided into two groups based on the primary surgeon: Consultant and Trainees.

Background: In patients with atherosclerotic occlusive diseases, systematic reviews and meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) report that antiplatelets, statins, and antihypertensives reduce the risk of major adverse cardiac events, need for revascularization procedures, mortality, and health care resource use. However, evidence suggests that these patients are not prescribed these medications adequately or do not adhere to them once prescribed.

Objective: We aim to systematically review and meta-analyze RCTs examining the effectiveness of implementation or adherence-supporting strategies for improving health care provider prescription of, or patient adherence to, guideline-recommended cardiovascular medications in patients with atherosclerotic occlusive disease.
