Background/aim: Invasive stratified mucin-producing carcinoma (ISMC) of the uterine cervix has been reported to be more aggressive than other subtypes of endocervical adenocarcinoma. We investigated the clinicopathological and molecular characteristics of eight ISMCs.

Patients And Methods: We reviewed the electronic medical records and pathology slides of eight patients with ISMC and conducted programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) immunostaining and targeted sequencing.

Results: The patients were between 31 and 54 years. Six tumors were pure ISMCs, and two showed co-existing squamous cell carcinoma and usual-type endocervical adenocarcinoma. Lymph node metastases were detected in three cases. Three patients developed distant metastases to the adnexa, lungs, inguinal lymph nodes, and small intestine. Two patients experienced disease progression, and three developed postoperative local recurrences. All tumors showed PD-L1 over-expression, with a mean combined positive score of 73.8 (range=30-100). One tumor harbored erb-b2 receptor tyrosine kinase 2 amplification.

Conclusion: ISMC of the uterine cervix exhibits a high risk of recurrence, metastasis, and resistance to chemoradiation therapy. PD-L1 over-expression was consistently observed in all ISMCs. This finding raises the possibility that patients with ISMC may benefit from PD-L1 immunotherapy.

Background/aim: Invasive stratified mucin-producing carcinoma (ISMC) is a rare but aggressive variant of endocervical adenocarcinoma (EAC). The aim of this study was to investigate the differences in clinicopathological features, patient outcomes, and programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression among ISMC, usual-type EAC (UEA), and gastric-type EAC (GEA).

Patients And Methods: PD-L1 22C3 immunostaining was performed using 20 ISMCs, 20 UEAs, and 20 GEAs.

Invasive stratified mucin-producing carcinoma (ISMC) is a specific type of adenocarcinoma of the cervix, which is associated with human papillomavirus infection and often coexists with other types of carcinomas. However, given its rarity, understanding of this disease remains insufficient. We present a unique case of ISMC of the cervix coexisting with a high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL).

To investigate the clinicopathological features, prognosis and the expression of HER2 and PD-L1 in invasive stratified mucin-producing carcinoma of the cervix (ISMC). The clinicopathological data of 18 ISMC cases with radical resection of the cervix diagnosed in the Daping Hospital, Army Medical University from January 2018 to December 2023 were collected and retrospectively analyzed. PD-L1 and HER2 immunohistochemical staining and HER2 FISH were conducted.

Aims: This study aimed to better characterize the clinical and molecular features in invasive stratified mucin-producing carcinoma (ISMC), an uncommon aggressive subtype of endocervical adenocarcinoma (EAC).

Methods And Results: We recruited 59 ISMC for clinicopathological analysis, immunohistochemistry (n = 56), and targeted next-generation sequencing (n = 17). Our cases contained 29 pure and 30 mixed-type ISMC.

Background/aim: The aim of the study was to correlate the expression of mismatch repairs proteins (MMR), programmed-death-ligand1 (PDL-1), and estro-progestinic receptors (ER/PgR) in tissue samples from a series of cervical adenocarcinoma (ADC) patients with their clinicopathological features.

Materials And Methods: Thirty-nine ADC specimens were retrospectively retrieved from the Division of Pathology of the University Hospital of Pisa from 2015 to 2021. Histological subtype, grade (G), Silva pattern, presence of lymph vascular space invasion (LVI), and perineural invasion (PNI) were annotated.
