surgery and autotransplantation may provide a promising option for radical resection of conventionally unresectable liver tumors. Two cirrhotic patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), which has an "awkward seat" located in the "intrahepatic vascular triangle area (IVTA)" that consists of the middle hepatic vein (MHV), the right branches of the Glisson sheath, and the inferior vena cava (IVC), underwent extended right-half hepatectomy followed by tumor resection and partial liver autotransplantation. Innovatively, the outflow of the tumor-free liver was reconstructed using pre-frozen allograft blood vessels from brain-dead donors; the patients recovered well postoperation.

Objective: To identify risk factors for loss to follow-up after inferior vena cava (IVC) filter placement in inpatients of other departments (IODs) and to determine whether a quality improvement project launched at our institution in April 2022 improved follow-up and filter retrieval rates in these patients.

Methods: Consecutive patients who underwent retrievable filter placement at our institution between March 2021 and March 2023 were included in this study. Patients were divided into preimprovement (before April 2022; n = 81) and postimprovement (after April 2022; n = 77) groups.

For end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients requiring hemodialysis, reliable vascular access is crucial, especially when conventional supradiaphragmatic options are exhausted. This study reviews the technical aspects, clinical outcomes, and complications of translumbar and transhepatic tunneled dialysis catheter (TDC) placements. These alternative infradiaphragmatic approaches provide essential hemodialysis access for patients with central venous occlusions.

Hepatopancreatobiliary Center, Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital, School of Clinical Medicine, Institute for Precision Medicine, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China.

Background: Intraoperative hemorrhage is one of the major complications of orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) and is mainly caused by technical difficulties of the surgical procedure besides primary liver diseases. The present study aimed to evaluate the feasibility and clinical effects of a novel proceduralized donor liver back-table preparation (DLBTP) technique for use in OLT.

Methods: This retrospective study was conducted between January 2018 and June 2020 based on patients who had undergone OLT.
