Background: Shortage of oxygen is a common condition for residents of high-altitude (HA) areas. In mammals, hemoglobin (Hb) has four derivatives: oxyhemoglobin (Hb-O), carboxyhemoglobin (Hb-CO), sulfhemoglobin (Hb-S), and methemoglobin (Met-Hb). In HA areas, aberrant physiological performance of blood hemoglobin is well-established.

In this paper cobalt oxide (CoO) nanoparticles were mixed with polyacrylonitrile to prepare CoO doped carbon nanofiber (CNF) composite by electrospinning and carbonization, which was further used to modify on carbon ionic liquid electrode (CILE). Hemoglobin (Hb) was immobilized on CoO-CNF/CILE surface with Nafion acted as the protective film to fabricate an electrochemical biosensor (Nafion/Hb/CoO-CNF/CILE). Electrochemical behavior of Hb on the electrode was investigated with a pair of quasi-reversible redox peak appeared on cyclic voltammogram and electrochemical parameters were calculated.

In this paper, PHB, P(HO-co-HD), a various composition of P(HB-co-HV) copolymer and P(HB-co-HH) copolymer were studied both at normal temperature and in the process of increasing and decreasing temperature using FTIR spectroscopy technology. Results showed that FTIR spectra of PHAs with various compositions have distinguishing characteristics. Physical transformation occurred when PHAs were treated with heat denaturalization, and this physical process was reversible.

Background: Exhaled carbon monoxide has been reported to increase in inflammatory pulmonary diseases and to be correlated with blood carboxyhaemoglobin (Hb-CO) concentration. A study was undertaken to determine whether arterial blood Hb-CO increases in patients with inflammatory pulmonary diseases.
Methods: The Hb-CO concentration in arterial blood was measured with a spectrophotometer in 34 normal control subjects, 24 patients with bronchial asthma, 52 patients with pneumonia, and 21 patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).
