Mitochondrial DNA B Resour

College of Life Sciences, Yantai University, Yantai, PR China.

Published: August 2021

AI Article Synopsis

  • The study focuses on the red alga Masuda 1982, which is found in coastal areas of Shandong and Liaoning in China, as well as in Japan.
  • Researchers determined its complete circular mitochondrial DNA sequence, which is 25,318 bp long, has a GC content of 25.1%, and encodes 23 protein-coding genes, two ribosomal RNAs, and 24 transfer RNAs.
  • Phylogenetic analysis indicates a close evolutionary relationship between Masuda 1982 and other Rhodophyta species, contributing to our understanding of red algae evolution.

Article Abstract

(Perestenko) Masuda 1982 is distributed in the coastal areas of Shandong and Liaoning in China, and also in Japan. In this study, the complete nucleotide sequence of the circular mitochondrial DNA of the red alga has been determined. The complete mitochondrial DNA sequence of was 25,318 bp in length with an overall GC content of 25.1% and encoded 23 protein-coding genes, two ribosomal RNAs and 24 transfer RNAs. Phylogenetic tree showed that clustered together with . The phylogenetic analysis may provide a better understanding of the evolution of the Rhodophyta species.
