[Role of radiotherapy in haematology].

Cancer Radiother

Service d'hématologie, CHU de François-Mitterrand, 21000 Dijon, France.

Published: October 2021

The management of myeloid and lymphoid disease is essentially based on chemotherapy and targeted therapies. Since radiotherapy could be responsible for severe late toxicities, essentially due to conventional bidimensional irradiation techniques, many trials have attempted to omit radiotherapy or to scale down the dose in their therapeutic strategy. Nevertheless, radiotherapy still plays a role for curative or symptomatic purposes.

Background And Objectives: Understanding and managing seizure activity is crucial in neuro-oncology, especially for highly epileptogenic lesions like isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH)-mutant gliomas. Advanced MRI techniques such as diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and neurite orientation dispersion and density imaging (NODDI) have been used to describe microstructural changes associated with epilepsy. However, their role in tumor-related epilepsy (TRE) remains unclear.

Objectives: Cutaneous adnexal carcinomas (CACs) are rare skin cancers with no established treatment guidelines. Given the limited data, this study aims to explore the characteristics and outcomes of patients with CAC treated with radiation therapy (RT).

Methods: Patients diagnosed with CAC between 2000 and 2020 who received RT were included.

Gliomas are the most common lethal tumors of the brain associated with a poor prognosis and increased resistance to chemo-radiotherapy. Circular RNAs (circRNAs), newly identified noncoding RNAs, have appeared as critical regulators of therapeutic resistance among multiple cancers and gliomas. Since circRNAs are aberrantly expressed in glioma and may act as promoters or inhibitors of therapeutic resistance, we categorized alterations of these specific RNAs expression in therapy resistant-glioma in three different classes, including chemoresistance, radioresistance, and glioma stem cell (GSC)-regulation.

Glioblastoma(GBM) is a highly malignant primary central nervous system tumor that poses a significant threat to patient survival due to its treatment resistance and rapid recurrence.Current treatment options, including maximal safe surgical resection, radiotherapy, and temozolomide (TMZ) chemotherapy, have limited efficacy. In recent years, the role of glycolytic metabolic reprogramming in GBM has garnered increasing attention.

Investigating the significance of SPECT/CT-SUV for monitoring Lu-PSMA-targeted radionuclide therapy: a systematic review.

BMC Med Imaging

January 2025

Department of Radiological Sciences, College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University, P.O. Box 84428, Riyadh, 11671, Saudi Arabia.

Background: Quantitative molecular imaging via single-photon emission computed tomography-derived standardised uptake value (SPECT/CT-SUV) is used to assess the response of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) patients to targeted radionuclide therapy (TRT) with [Lu]Lu-PSMA. This imaging technique determines the radiopharmaceutical distribution and internal dosimetry in patients who receive TRT. However, there is limited evidence regarding the role of image quantification in monitoring changes induced by [Lu]Lu-PSMA.
