The functionalization of the C-N bond of amines is a straightforward strategy for the construction of complex scaffolds or for the late-stage functionalization of pharmaceuticals. Herein, we describe a photoredox-catalyzed strategy for the deaminative alkylation of primary amine-derived isonitriles that provides unnatural amino acid derivatives under mild conditions. The use of silacarboxylic acids as silyl radical precursors enables the generation of carbon-centered radicals that allow the construction of Csp-Csp bonds via a Giese-type addition, avoiding the undesired hydrodeamination product.

A Wireless Health Monitoring System Accomplishing Bimodal Decoupling Based on an "IS"-Shaped Multifunctional Conductive Hydrogel.

Small

January 2025

Engineering Research Center of Western Resource Innovation Medicine Green Manufacturing, Ministry of Education, School of Chemical Engineering, Northwest University, Xi'an, 710127, China.

Flexible wearable sensors with bimodal functionality offer substantial value for human health monitoring, as relying on a single indicator is insufficient for capturing comprehensive physiological information. However, bimodal sensors face multiple challenges in practical applications, including mutual interference between various modalities, and integration of excellent mechanical properties, interfacial adhesion, environmental adaptability and biocompatibility. Herein, the multifunctional hydrogel, synthesized through radical grafting and supramolecular self-crosslinking reactions, exhibits excellent thermal sensitivity (TCR = -1.

Anatomical-Based Filler Injection Techniques: Anteromedial, Buccal, and Lateral Cheek Hollow.

Aesthetic Plast Surg

January 2025

Division in Anatomy and Developmental Biology, Department of Oral Biology, Human Identification Research Institute, BK21 FOUR Project, Yonsei University College of Dentistry, 50-1 Yonsei-ro, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, 03722, Korea.

Background: Hollowness in the anteromedial, buccal, and lateral cheek regions is a common concern in aesthetic medicine, often resulting from age-related volume loss and structural changes. Advanced filler injection techniques that incorporate a thorough understanding of facial anatomy are critical for achieving optimal and safe outcomes.

Objective: To review and detail anatomically guided filler injection techniques for addressing hollowness in specific cheek regions, considering facial anatomy, ethnic variations, and patient-specific aesthetic goals.

Department of Public Health & Community Medicine, School of Medicine, IMU University, Kuala Lumpur, 57000, Malaysia.

Fear of progression (FoP) is a stressful psychosocial condition that affects health and quality of life. Breast cancer is recognized as the most prevalent cancer among women globally. This study aims to determine the prevalence of FoP, coping strategies, and associated factors among Malaysian female breast cancer survivors.

Hyperprogressive disease induced by PD-1 inhibitor monotherapy in lung adenocarcinoma with HER2 exon 20 insertion: report of two cases and review of literature.

Discov Oncol

January 2025

Department of Medical Oncology, National Cancer Center/National Clinical Research Center for Cancer/Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, Beijing, 100021, People's Republic of China.

Article Synopsis
  • Monotherapy with anti-PD-1 monoclonal antibodies has been approved for treating advanced non-small cell lung cancer with positive PD-L1 expression, showing better survival rates than chemotherapy.
  • Certain patients experience hyperprogressive disease (HPD) despite this treatment, a phenomenon where cancer progresses rapidly, but the reasons and molecular traits behind it remain unclear.
  • This study presents two cases of advanced lung adenocarcinoma with HER2 exon 20 insertion that developed HPD after anti-PD-1 treatment, suggesting this mutation could serve as a biomarker for avoiding ineffective immunotherapy in specific patients.
