Objective: To present clinical and epidemiological aspects of neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD) in the Russian Federation.

Material And Methods: We studied 142 patients who met diagnostic criteria of 2015 for NMOSD. Sex, age at disease onset, presence or absence of aquaporin-4 immunoglobulin G antibodies (AQP4-IgG), mail clinical symptoms, oligoclonal IgG, therapy for the treatment of exacerbations and prevention of exacerbations, compliance with 2006 diagnostic criteria were assessed.

Results: The prevalence of women is 4.26:1, the most frequent age at disease onset is 18-29 years (36% of cases). The laboratory aspects of the disease are characterized and approaches to the treatment and prevention of exacerbations of NMOSD in patients of the Russian population are evaluated. Approaches to diagnostics are compared depending on the applied diagnostic criteria (34% of patients do not meet neuromyelitis optica 2006 diagnostic criteria). A prognosis for the prevalence of NMOSD in the Russian population has been proposed: 0.45-4.21/100000.

Conclusion: This is the first published data on clinical and epidemiological characteristics of NMOSD in the Russian Federation.

Profile and Usefulness of Serum Cytokines to Predict Prognosis in Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein Antibody-Associated Disease.

Neurol Neuroimmunol Neuroinflamm

March 2025

Hospices Civils de Lyon, Service de Neurologie, Sclérose en Plaques, Pathologies de la Myéline et Neuro-Inflammation-Hôpital Neurologique Pierre Wertheimer, Bron Cedex.

Objectives: To characterize the serum cytokine profile in myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) at onset and during follow-up and assess their utility for predicting relapses and disability.

Methods: This retrospective multicentric cohort study included patients aged 16 years and older meeting MOGAD 2023 criteria, with serum samples collected at baseline (≤3 months from disease onset) and follow-up (≥6 months from the baseline), and age-matched and time to sampling-matched patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). Eleven cytokines were assessed using the ELLA system.

Background: The offspring of parents with bipolar disorder (BD) and with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) have a higher risk of having the same condition. Both disorders also share psychopathological symptoms; however, little is known about their genetic overlap. To examine whether the offspring of parents with BD have a greater chance of being affected by ADHD, we conducted a systematic review.

Purpose: In CheckMate 204, nivolumab + ipilimumab showed high intracranial (IC) objective response rates (icORRs) in patients with melanoma brain metastases (MBMs). Using icORR as a surrogate for overall survival (OS) has prompted use of alternate response criteria. To set the stage for harmonized MBM trials, the aim of this exploratory analysis was to determine icORR using several response criteria and examine correlations of response with survival.

Purpose: Continuous EEG (cEEG) monitoring is increasingly used in the management of neonates with seizures. There remains debate on what clinically relevant information can be gained from cEEG in neonates with suspected seizures, at high risk for seizures, or with definite seizures, as well as the use of cEEG for prognosis in a variety of conditions. In this guideline, we address these questions using American Clinical Neurophysiology Society structured methodology for clinical guideline development.

Objective: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a frequent complication in critically ill patients, affecting up to 50% of patients in the intensive care units. The lack of standardized and open-source tools for applying the Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) criteria to time series, requires researchers to implement classification algorithms of their own which is resource intensive and might impact study quality by introducing different interpretations of edge cases. This project introduces pyAKI, an open-source pipeline addressing this gap by providing a comprehensive solution for consistent KDIGO criteria implementation.
