Background: The dental quality alliance of the American Dental Association developed quality and performance measure concepts (QMCs) for pediatric dentistry to identify variations in care and to improve quality of care.

Objectives: This study evaluated the relationship between the proposed QMCs and oral health, measured as caries status.

Methodology: Parents/guardians of new patients presenting to the Nationwide Children's Hospital Dental Clinic for a nonurgent hygiene appointment were asked to complete a 10-question survey that reflected the QMCs. An oral examination was completed on each patient to determine his/her caries status.

Results: For the majority of the QMCs evaluated in the study, there was no statistically significant difference in caries status between patients who had attended care according to the QMCs and those who had not.

Conclusions: From the findings, attending care as outlined by the QMCs may be no better than counting procedures as a measure of quality oral health-care outcomes.

Objectives: To report the results of an international patient-reported survey that adds to the growing body of evidence surrounding the role of surgery in the management of a subset of patients with non-hydrocephalic symptomatic pineal cyst.

Design: An international web-based survey of health outcomes in patients with nhSPC.

Subjects: All survey participants who self-reported a diagnosis of symptomatic pineal cyst without hydrocephalus after radiological imaging.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of a 6-month Guolin Qigong on quality of life and serum cortisol among patients with cancer.

Methods: This study was a two-arm and non-randomized controlled trial. Forty-nine patients with cancer who were over 18 years of age and diagnosed with cancer were enrolled in this study and assigned to either the Guolin Qigong intervention group (IG, n = 26) or the usual care group (UC, n = 23) for 6 months.

Highly Strained Polymeric Monolayer Stacked for Wafer-Scale and Transferable Nanodielectrics.

ACS Nano

December 2024

Key Laboratory of Mesoscopic Chemistry of MOE, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Nanjing University, Nanjing, Jiangsu, 210023, China.

As the keystones of molecular electronics, high-quality nanodielectric layers are challenging to assemble due to the strictest criteria for their reliability and uniformity over a large area. Here, we report a strained poly(4-vinylphenol) monolayer, ready to be stacked to form defect-free wafer-scale nanodielectrics. The thickness of the nanodielectrics can be precisely adjusted in integral multiples of the 1.

High-Performance Shear Mode Ultrasonic Transducer Operating at Ultrahigh Temperature Fabricated with BiSiO Piezoelectric Crystal.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

December 2024

Center for Optics Research and Engineering, State Key Laboratory of Crystal Materials, Shandong University, Qingdao 266237, China.

Shear mode ultrasonic waves are in high demand for structural health monitoring (SHM) applications owing to their nondispersive characteristics, singular mode, and minimal energy loss, especially in harsh environments. However, the generation and detection of a pure shear wave using conventional piezoelectric materials present substantial challenges because of their complex piezoelectric response, involving multiple modes. Herein, we introduce a high-quality piezoelectric crystal BiSiO (BSO), exhibiting a robust piezoelectric response ( = 45.

Objective: This study investigates whether early gestational age (GA) at delivery is associated with an increased risk for severe maternal morbidity (SMM) in women with preterm delivery.

Methods: This retrospective national cohort study based on the Programme de Médicalisation des Systèmes d'Information database included mothers who gave birth between 22 and 37 weeks in metropolitan France in 2019 (in utero deaths and medical terminations of pregnancies were excluded). SMM was defined as a composite criterion consisting of the occurrence of at least one of the following events: death, severe preeclampsia, obstetric surgical complications, severe maternal diseases, and admission to the intensive care unit.
