With the rise of long-read sequencers and long-range technologies, delivering high-quality plant genome assemblies is no longer reserved to large consortia. Not only sequencing techniques, but also computer algorithms have reached a point where the reconstruction of assemblies at the chromosome scale is now feasible at the laboratory scale. Current technologies, in particular long-range technologies, are numerous, and selecting the most promising one for the genome of interest is crucial to obtain optimal results. In this study, we resequenced the genome of the yellow sarson, cv. Z1, using the Oxford Nanopore PromethION sequencer and assembled the sequenced data using current assemblers. To reconstruct complete chromosomes, we used and compared three long-range scaffolding techniques, optical mapping, Omni-C, and Pore-C sequencing libraries, commercialized by Bionano Genomics, Dovetail Genomics, and Oxford Nanopore Technologies, respectively, or a combination of the three, in order to evaluate the capability of each technology.

Objective: Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a motor neuron disorder encompassing 5q and non-5q forms, causing muscle weakness and atrophy due to spinal cord cell degeneration. Understanding its genetic basis is crucial for genetic counseling and personalized treatment options.
Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed families of patients suspected of SMA at our institution from February 2006 to March 2024.

The miniaturization of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) is pivotal in ultrahigh-resolution displays. Metal-halide perovskites promise efficient light emission, long-range carrier transport and scalable manufacturing for bright microscale LED (micro-LED) displays. However, thin-film perovskites with inhomogeneous spatial distribution of light emission and unstable surface under lithography are incompatible with the micro-LED devices.

Realizing quantum control and entanglement of particles is crucial for advancing both quantum technologies and fundamental science. Substantial developments in this domain have been achieved in a variety of systems. In this context, ultracold polar molecules offer new and unique opportunities because of their more complex internal structure associated with vibration and rotation, coupled with the existence of long-range interactions.

Accurately segmenting remote sensing images remains challenging due to the diverse target scales and ambiguous structural boundaries. In this work, we propose a semi-supervised boundary segmentation network (BS-GAN) to address these challenges. BS-GAN employs a semi-supervised learning approach to reduce dependency on labeled data while introducing a novel mixed attention (MA) mechanism to enhance segmentation accuracy by aggregating long-range contextual information.

Precise patterning of sensing materials, particularly the long-range-ordered assembly of micro/nanostructures, is pivotal for improving sensor performance, facilitating miniaturization, and enabling seamless integration. This paper examines the importance of interfacial confined assembly in sensor patterning, including gas-liquid and liquid-liquid confined assembly, wettability-assisted or microstructure-assisted solid-liquid interfacial confined assembly, and tip-induced confined assembly. The application of capillary bridge confined assembly technology in chemical sensors, flexible electronics, and optoelectronics is highlighted.
