The combined application of vaccines in swine offers many benefits, including reduced time and labour costs, and improved animal welfare, due to fewer injections and manipulations. This study investigated if simultaneous intradermal vaccinations against porcine circovirus 2, porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus, , and , using a specialised needle-free applicator would confer comparable protection against experimental infection compared to the single vaccines. In all cases, the administration of the vaccines together was as efficacious as the administration of the vaccines alone, significantly reducing clinical signs associated with each of the four pathogens.

Article Synopsis
  • Transdermal drug delivery using SPACE-modified liposomal chrysomycin A (CA@SPACE-LP) shows promise for treating skin diseases like melanoma and MRSA infections.
  • In vitro studies reveal that CA@SPACE-LP significantly enhances drug penetration into skin layers, achieving a threefold increase in intradermal drug concentration compared to free chrysomycin A.
  • In vivo results indicate that CA@SPACE-LP effectively suppresses melanoma tumor growth by about 60% and outperforms conventional treatments for MRSA, suggesting its potential for combined cancer and infection therapy.

Background: In an exploratory study to assess the potential to individualize T-cell diagnostics in antibiotic-associated severe T-cell mediated hypersensitivity, we focused on drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) and the related cytokine outputs IL-4 and IL-5.

Methods: Patients with well-phenotyped RegiSCAR ≥4 DRESS, positive intradermal skin testing, and a previous negative IFN-γ Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSpot (ELISpot) assay were prospectively recruited. We specifically performed an ELISpot assay with IL-4 and IL-5 cytokine outputs.

Background: The formation of infraorbital dark circles involves various factors including hyperpigmentation, skin aging and laxity. This study is to investigate whether cell-free fat extract (CEFFE) inhibits melanin synthesis and improves the appearance of infraorbital dark circles.

Methods: Imaging systems analysed the melanin content in three groups of zebrafish embryos treated with 0 (CTRL), 100, and 200μg/mL of CEFFE.

Objective: To estimate vaccination coverage in children born between 2017-2018, living in urban areas of state capitals, the Federal District and 12 inland municipalities in Brazil, and to identify associated factors.

Methods: This was a household survey conducted between 2020-2022, among children up to 24 months old. Vaccination coverage was estimated according to family, maternal and child characteristics.

Biomarkers detection has become essential in medical diagnostics and early detection of life-threatening diseases. Modern-day medicine relies heavily on painful and invasive tests, with the extraction of large volumes of venous blood being the most common tool of biomarker detection. These tests are time-consuming, complex, expensive and require multiple sample manipulations and trained staff.
