Healthy and pathological human walking are here interpreted, from a temporal point of view, by means of dynamics-on-graph concepts and generalized finite-length Fibonacci sequences. Such sequences, in their most general definition, concern two sets of eight specific time intervals for the newly defined , which involves two specific couples of overlapping (left and right) gait cycles. The role of the golden ratio, whose occurrence has been experimentally found in the recent literature, is accordingly characterized, without resorting to complex tools from linear algebra. Gait recursivity, self-similarity, and asymmetry (including double support sub-phase consistency) are comprehensively captured. A new gait index, named Φ, and a new related experimental conjecture-concerning the position of the foot relative to the tibia-are concurrently proposed. Experimental results on healthy or pathological gaits support the theoretical derivations.

Department of Medical Imaging Technology, Manipal College of Health Professions, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, Karnataka, 576104, India.

Introduction: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is essential for brain imaging, but conventional methods rely on qualitative contrast, are time-intensive, and prone to variability. Magnetic resonance finger printing (MRF) addresses these limitations by enabling fast, simultaneous mapping of multiple tissue properties like T1, T2. Using dynamic acquisition parameters and a precomputed signal dictionary, MRF provides robust, qualitative maps, improving diagnostic precision and expanding clinical and research applications in brain imaging.

Purpose: Significant debate exists on the association between infection and childhood asthma. We aimed to explore this association in a cohort of children in Palestine while estimating the prevalence of in this population.

Methods: We conducted a prospective case-control study among children aged 6-15 years in Palestine, including 44 asthma cases diagnosed by pediatric pulmonologists and 99 age-matched healthy controls recruited through cluster sampling from schools.

Hallmarks of aging: middle-aging hypovascularity, tissue perfusion and nitric oxide perspective on healthspan.

Front Aging

January 2025

Molecular Medicine, NSW Health Pathology, John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle, NSW, Australia.

Aging is a complex process marked by various changes at both cellular and systemic levels, impacting the functioning and lifespan of organisms. Over time, researchers have pinpointed several significant hallmarks of aging that lead to the gradual deterioration of tissue function, regulation, and homeostasis associated with aging in humans. Despite this, the intricate interactions and cumulative effects of these hallmarks are still mostly uncharted territory.

Prolonged storage reduces viability of and core intestinal bacteria in fecal microbiota transplantation preparations for dogs.

Front Microbiol

Gastrointestinal Laboratory, Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences, Texas A&M University, College Station, TX, United States.

Introduction: Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) has been described useful as an adjunct treatment for chronic enteropathy in dogs. Different protocols can be used to prepare and store FMT preparations, however, the effect of these methods on microbial viability is unknown. We aimed (1) to assess the viability of several core intestinal bacterial species by qPCR and (2) to assess () viability through culture to further characterize bacterial viability in different protocols for FMT preparations.
