I.v. administration of the C-terminal sulfated cholecystokinin octapeptide as well as microapplication of its analogues to the eye sclera induced an increase of firing rate in over 1/3 neurons of the ventromedial nucleus. Administration of alitezin and analogues of bombesin induced inhibitory responses and infrequent burst activity in some of these neurons.
