To characterise physiological responses to competing in an international rugby sevens tournament played in hot/humid conditions, core temperature (T) and T predictors were collected from 11 elite men's rugby sevens athletes competing in the Oceania sevens tournament in Suva, Fiji. T, body mass change, sweat electrolytes, playing minutes, total running distance, high speed running distance (HSD), psychrometric wet bulb temperature and exertional heat illness symptoms were collected pre, during and post games. Linear mixed-models were used to assess the effect of T predictors on post-game T, along with differences in T across measurement periods. Compared to baseline on both tournament days, mean T was higher during all between game (recovery) measures (all >1.30, <0.01). On both tournament days, eight athletes reached a post-game T >39.0°C, with several athletes reaching >39.0°C during warm-ups. Mean post-game T was related to playing minutes, total running distance, HSD, and post warm-up T (all  < 0.01). The T during warm-ups and games regularly exceeded those demonstrated to be detrimental to repeated sprint performance (> 39°C). Warm-up T represents the easiest predictor of post-game T to control via time/intensity modulation and the use of appropriate pre- and per-cooling strategies. Practitioners should be prepared to modulate warm-ups and other heat preparation strategies based on likely environmental conditions during hot/humid tournaments.

Purpose: Rugby sevens is a high-intensity contact sport often played in two-day tournaments. Caffeine is widely used by rugby players for its performance-enhancing effects. This study aimed to investigate the impact of caffeine supplementation on various performance metrics, including distance covered at different speeds, acceleration, deceleration, collisions, and repeated high-intensity efforts across four matches over two consecutive days in collegiate male rugby sevens players.

Pectoralis major injuries are not commonly seen; this type of injury occurs mainly due to weightlifting and bench pressing. The majority of cases occur in men between the ages of 20 to 40 years. We present a case of a previously healthy 34-year-old male who presented to the emergency department after sustaining an injury to the left shoulder and loin while playing rugby.

Background: Rugby-related injuries are a leading cause of dropout from competitive sports, high insurance compensation, disability and socioeconomic marginalisation. The debilitating effect of these injuries on players may deny them the benefits associated with rugby and can lead to premature termination of a rugby career.

Objectives: To determine the prevalence, incidence and risk factors for rugby-related injuries among male Safari Sevens rugby tournament players in Kenya.

This cross-sectional study aims to identify the situational characteristics, ball-carrier technical variables, and recommended techniques associated with performance outcomes in elite women's Rugby Union. Using retrospective video analysis, 43 tackler and ball-carrier technical characteristics for 1500 tackle events in the 2022-23 Women's Six Nations Championship were assessed, considering match situation and performance outcomes. Rate ratio (RR) was determined using propensity rates.
