The reaction of Mn(NCS) with a stoichiometric amount of 3-(amino-meth-yl)pyridine in ethanol led to the formation of the title compound, [Mn(NCS)(CHN)] , which is isotypic to its Zn, Co and Cd analogues. The manganese cation is located on a centre of inversion and is octa-hedrally coordinated in an all- configuration by two terminal N-bonded thio-cyanate anions as well as four 3-(amino-meth-yl)pyridine co-ligands, of which two coordinate with the pyridine N atom and two with the amino N atom. The 3-(amino-meth-yl)pyridine co-ligands connect the Mn cations into layers extending parallel to (10). These layers are further connected into a three-dimensional network by relatively strong inter-molecular N-H⋯S hydrogen bonding. Comparison of the experimental X-ray powder diffraction pattern with the calculated pattern on the basis of single-crystal data proves the formation of a pure crystalline phase. IR measurements showed the CN stretching vibration of the thio-cyanate anions at 2067 cm, which is in agreement with the presence of terminally N-bonded anionic ligands. TG-DTA measurements revealed that the title compound decomposes at about 500 K.

Open frameworks in the NaMn(PO)F fluoro-pyrophosphates system.

School of Materials Science and Engineering, Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Zhenjiang 212100, Jiangsu, China.

Three new sodium manganese fluoro-pyrophosphate compounds, namely, NaMn(PO)F (I), NaMn(PO)F (II), and NaMn(PO)F (III), have been synthesized by heating a mixture of NaPF, NaPOF or NaHPO with different Mn sources in NaNO and KNO fluxes. The structures of the title compounds were characterized single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD). II is characteristic of a shell of Na ions that encloses one [Mn(PO)F] unit, whereas I and III reveal three-dimensional (3D) frameworks that consist of MnO, Mn/NaOF octahedra or MnO octahedra and distorted MnO square pyramids with PO units, where Na cations reside in different-membered ring one-dimensional (1D) tunnels.

Background: Functional foods and dairy products are gaining global attention due to their nutritional value and health-promoting characteristics. Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are one of the promising components included in these products, thanks to their probiotic properties and ability to produce bioactive compounds such as bacteriocins. On the other hand, ectomycorrhizal wild mushrooms (truffles) are known for their ethnomycological importance.
