We present a neo-Hookean elasticity theory for hybrid mechano-active hydrogels, integrating motor proteins into polymer meshes to create composite materials with active softening due to modulable chain overlaps. Focusing on polyacrylamide (PA) hydrogels embedded with FtsZ, a bacterial cytokinetic protein powered by GTP, we develop a multiscale model using microscopic Flory theory of rubbery meshes through mesoscopic De Gennes' scaling concepts for meshwork dynamics and phenomenological Landau's formalism for second-order phase transitions. Our theoretical multiscale model explains the active softening observed in hybrid FtsZ-PA hydrogels by incorporating modulable meshwork dynamics, such as overlapping functionality and reptation dynamics, into an active mean-field of unbinding interactions.

Impaired fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) signaling is associated with many human conditions, including growth disorders, degenerative diseases, and cancer. Current FGFR therapeutics are based on chemical inhibitors of FGFR tyrosine kinase activity (TKIs). However, FGFR TKIs are limited in their target specificity as they generally inhibit all FGFRs and other receptor tyrosine kinases.

The efficacy of MitoTEMPO, a mitochondria-targeted antioxidant, in altering nerve fiber conduction properties within the sciatic nerve of streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats, a model for diabetic neuropathy characterized by myelinated fiber atrophy and nodal abnormalities. Utilizing the STZ-induced diabetic rat model, we assessed the impact of MitoTEMPO on nerve function through compound action potential (CAP) analysis and histological evaluation. Key indicators such as maximum depolarization (MD), CAP area, and conduction velocity distribution (CVD) were measured to gauge MitoTEMPO's neuroprotective effects, alongside physical parameters like weight and blood glucose levels.

Introduction: In our quest to identify potent inhibitors against SARS-CoV-2, an extensive investigation was conducted for the binding and inhibitory efficacy of Rutin against nine SARS-CoV-2 proteins.
Method: The first step of our analysis involved a comprehensive examination of structural similarity among the co-crystallized ligands associated with those proteins. A substantial structural similarity was observed between Rutin and Remdesivir, the ligand of the SARS-CoV-2 RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp).

The oxidative damage induced by abiotic stress factors such as salinity, drought, extreme temperatures, heavy metals, pollution, and high irradiance has been studied in Arabidopsis thaliana. Ultra-weak photon emission (UPE) is presented as a signature reflecting the extent of the oxidation process and/or damage. It can be used to predict the physiological state and general health of plants.
